You havn't seen ,touch or tested the new LCDs and judge them as cheap? common son..

peace

that's funny you called me son.. yet you're the one thinking like a child peterpan

do you know why reputable companies spend money and time (and by time i dont mean 7 months) in product research and development ?

... whyle other companies lie about it just to make a buck

Peter Piper. Ever heard of Run DMC?

do they? Do AKAI or should I say Numark?
If we're talking bout quality here. What about AKAI LCDs that **** around after something like 6 or 7 years? What about MPC1000 pads (first series)? What about the bugs in the 2000 series? How can it be that converting the samplerate in a 2000xl take hours while converting the samplerate in my TX16W (a sampler that came out years before the XL) with the alternative OS (made by some "unknown" proqrammers) take 2 seconds?
What about JJOS? What about the buggy MPC 5000 (first series)
Companies dont spend sooooo much time and money in developing and research. They want to present and sell a product. Lets make money. Lets make it fast. "Oh there's a problem with this? oh and there are some bugs there? Its ok we put it out and it will sell for 700$ because of the features list. Lets make the buyer be an alpha tester. haha"

But I also are a bit disappointed about the price of the new LCDs. I wont pay 160$. I hoped it would be something like 99$. I think at this price the LCD would get much more sells.

Peter you're the only guy that got it, and sorry for calling you peterpan by the way.

but you see my point now if multi million dollar companies do this just like drug companies do with medicine what possible good product can we expect from this little unknown basement company? what product research and development are they bragging about?

You guys are going to be suckers putting out $160 to be crash dummies.

well I agree that envision is not a trusted or proven company yet... however akai pro (since numark has owned them) is a proven terrible and shoddy company too and has left small companies to try and make right of our purchases.

the 1000 and 2500 requires JJOS basically, the machines like the 500 has things like the fat pads and other things to lessen the slammage the pads require in order to get some response... the 5000 seems like it was abandoned all together... and need we mention the keys on the mpk 49? come on, disappointment after disappointment...

Many people have had an interest in getting us a more reliable screen on the 2000/xl series, and many people have had an interest in trying to figure a way to get a working replacement including methods that required cannibalizing other gear etc...

sure, these screens have not been sitting in machines for the better part of a decade, but after all that is one of the attractions. Maybe some people may be interested in taking yet another risk rather then dishing out a few hundred on a screen they know will guaranteed fail after some time.

honestly, at above 150 bucks I am still finding myself in the position of scoring cheap 2000/xl models that work or can be as I said cannibalized or what have you, but the fact that somebody is at least trying to fix one of our concerns is refreshing. The fact is, akai will never do that for that series ever.. period. Even if they could, they would rather sell you a new model they have taking up space in one of their warehouses somewhere over fixing your perfectly good machine with a lined screen.

you may be right, but if I had to choose I would say that cant... hell half of their recent products are repackaged alesis designs (numark also bought alesis)

It's as if they aren't designing anything anymore... like, what happened to the R&D?

They think that if they stop supporting legacy products from the old akai then people will still stick with the brand and get new gear, but they aint even surpassing what's been done.

mpcworld.com has screens for $100 now if you send them your broken one.

so how is mpcstuff.com going to compete with that and sell the aftermarket ones for 160??

you should stop embarrassing yourself at this point, it is not same deal.
$100 for repairing old LCD screen, which has the line issues to begin with, which no one know how long it would last after the repair. (and I don't think all the defective LCD screens are repairable.)
With Envisionelec's LCD screen, you get a BRAND NEW LCD screen.

They RECYCLE them, NOT REPAIR

...

Do you honestly believe that they will NOT repair the screens they collect? They sell USED LCD screens!
By the way, I find it odd that they somehow tied with environment protection issue with this LCD "recycling" program.

I mean, repairing LCD screen is as good as (even better) recycling them for environment, I think. I don't even know whether LCD screens are really recyclable.

and a lot of companies are going green because it's popular and it's good for business and they probably even get some government grants for it or at least private grants ... you really dont know much... you must live under a rock
