Loading OS 1.72?

My floppy drive is having trouble reading the OS disk when I turn on my MPC. It works sometimes but only once every 20 trys or so. I've copied the OS onto a zip disk and tried to load it through scsi. However, when I the MPC does not recognize the OS on the disk when I boot.

How can I get this to work??

some kind of a basic checklist, hope this helps..

- Make sure both the MPC2000.EXE and MPC2000.SYS are placed in the root folder of your ZIP. Classic 2K doesn't support folders..
- Try another ZIP cartridge..
- Check if the Zip drive and media work the way they should after successful booting from floppy, if not check cables, IDs, termnation and SCSI fuse.
- reseat RAM ?! XL user, don't know seq memory location where the OS is loaded to..
- Maybe there is something wrong with your backed up OS files, re-download 'em from the akai website.
- Think about FROM or SCSI-CF upgrade.

The Zip drive works fine then the machine is running. I am able to save and load files without a problem.

I bought a zip disk from ebay with the OS already saved on it and the machine still does not recognize the drive during the boot process.

During the boot the MPC check the floppy drive then runs through the scsi ID's starting from 1. My 2000 recognizes the drive as SCSI 5 and while searching through these ID's during startup the screen briefly pauses at SCSI 5 then continues to look through the rest. After its done searching the LCD reads disk error like before while trying to load from the floppy drive.

Any more insight to what may be going wrong.

Maybe I do knew to upgrade to a CF reader
