I'm wondering the same thing. I'm also wondering about pricing.
The reason I am considering mediafire, rapidshare, etc. is because of price. I can upload alot for roughly 9-15 bucks a month. There are some pros and cons to those services, but the price is definately good.
Drop box is cool, but price seems expensive once you get past the free stuff.
I always thought the pricing structure of amazon s3 was ok because its pay what you use........but still not as cool as mediafire, etc. flat rate. Flat rate just makes it easier to calculate and budget.
Also, I'm probably going to have a hybrid solution. I think its going to be a pain to upload my 400 gb HD worth of stuff - and honestly alot of it doesnt need to be backed up (its a bit of a hoard of files).
my current plan is to backup my most precious files on dvd (mixes, project files,beats/samples). Then keep my HD with my giant collection of sample library material + back those up via mediafire (going to be large pain to upload all these).
Then I'm going to duplicate my harddrive and put it in a safe place.
I'm also traveling. So that sucks because my internet connection isnt always good, plus, it increases the possiblity of my stuff getting stolen or ruined. This is the main reason im looking at cloud based backup.
I think thats the selling point for me atleast on cloud based storage. If my mpc gets stolen, or my whole laptop bag.......there goes my HD, laptop (where alot of files are duplicated), and my mpc internal HD............the whole enchilada gone!
