I want to get an MPC3000. I seen one in good conditions but I seen the LE for 300 more. What's the main difference between the both? Is the 300 dollar difference worth it?

If you want one you should already know the answers.

Check the MPC Comparison forum and this one for all the details.

Well the extra 300 dollars gets you an MPC3000LE that is six years younger than the original having been released in 2000.

Newer build, newer components, new colours and it's the last ever Roger Linn MPC.

It also has a better resale value due to the limited number available (2000) and high demand from buyers.

Strictly for the MPC3000 afficionado's IMO, all functions are identical to the original.

A good compromise is to get an original 3000 and upgrade it to Vailixi OS, which will cost you less than a MPC3000LE.

However the 3000LE with Vailixi and a card reader is the dream machine.

See some common 3000LE hardware combo's here:

Says you! I find the decals and purple colours off-putting. But I guess LE fans are more Empire than Rebellion ;)

Apologies for generalising, that's the machine I have.

So do you prefer the OG 3000 Shostakovich?

What is your ideal MPC3000 hardware configuration?

I love 'em both, but I know there are lots of folks that prefer the classic color scheme...I'd personally love to have a maxed out le, but couldn't find one that wasn't outrageously priced when I was buying.

Yup. And I like that! Couldn't see myself using a "proper" sized monitor for this (overkill). But to anyone trying to decide whether to go for the CRT board, I can honestly say it makes a world of difference to the workflow. That pic isn't how I've got it set up currently. MPC display stays down and off at all times. CRT to the right of the machine. Works a treat. I would also recommend anyone deciding to put a an internal card reader to stay external as you don't lose the floppy that way.

I agree, plus you can use an external card reader with other gear so you only need to buy one.

But if you do go internal, keep hold of your floppy drive if it still works!!
