Running the MPC through a preamp?

I'm thinking of maybe getting a tube preamp cause I play bass and my soundcard don't have preamps, so I can't really record my bass for the moment.

I was wondering if running the MPC through the preamp while tracking out may help me to have a better, warmer sound? I was thinking of buying the Art tube MP, which is one of the cheapest tube preamps and has quite good reviews. Anyone tried it?

i think you mean you wanna run the bass guitar into the preamp and then the preamp into the MPC...

bass into MPC and then MPC into preamp makes no sense at all...

And I think he want to run the MPC through a preamp when tracking his beats out, which is a good thing to do.

a preamp would definitely improve the sound of your bass.
that ART unit is starved-plate. basically, it's an expensive lamp.
better to spend your money on a solid state pre amp or a real tube pre-amp.

The main thing I want to do is being able to record my bass, and I was also wondering if it could be a good thing to use with the MPC but I don't want to spend a lot of money for it, so I think the Art tube will do the job!

just buy a DI box. you can record into the MPC with that. it'll be a less expensive and better option than a cheap preamp.

My idea was to put the preamp between my bass and my soundcard and then record my bass in my DAW. Will I be able to do this with a DI box? I thought i needed a preamp?

Well, if you want some character to your bass, then I recommend a preamp. A DI box sends an unprocessed signal to your mixer to balance out with your wet(effects) bass signals. Guitarist usually uses one.

I run two preamps, one mic-pre and one line-pre for my samplers. I suggest getting a pre-amp mainly for your bass, the ART Tube MP I believe is for microphones.

i think you'll get a nicer 'character' out of a decent bass DI than a cheap ass art pre-amp.

I'm not really looking for character, just for a way to record my bass with a decent sound. I wanna spend as less as possible, so those 2 DI are a bit expensive for me. I think the art tube will do the job.
