They can't jack up the price - it's under contract.

Sick, ok cool. Sorry I'm new in here, just got a 2kxl, screen is slowly going :( Is there a known price yet or is it up in the air right now? Can you say what would price would make it not 'under contract'?

$159.

It's an exclusive contract with mpcstuff.com. They get the screen first because a) I wasn't treated like an idiot when I contacted them and b) have an easy-to-remember name. I set the price, so you can blame me. It's quite a bit more than just a screen. There is an entire microcomputer strapped to the back of it just to translate the information. You're getting a lot of hardware and peace of mind knowing its done correctly.

If I didn't make it clear before, the screen will have the ability to be "inverted" meaning white characters on a dark background. It is set via a pin jumper when it's installed.

Thanks for clearing that up, $160 is definitely cool in my book, reading through 20 pages to find that out is a little troublesome though. What if you just edited the first post with new updates that way all the most current info is right there in the beginning?

One other question that I don't believe was covered - is there going to be any type of warranty or guarantee on these? I know they either work or they don't but that would suck if after 100 hour they burn out.

They have a 180 Day "limited" warranty and all of them are fully tested. Limited means it doesn't cover cracked LCD glass or obvious damage from improper installation.

holy sh!t, 6 month warranty is pretty fair... you sound confident in the product.... there is another bonus over the "sold as is due to age and the nature of vintage electronics" sales policies.

Who knows, it was supposed to be out a long time ago. I just want to know if it will be out this year, otherwise I'm going to just spend the money on a used screen.

Envisionelec, any updates on what's going on with these? Do you think they are going to be released this year? I know it keeps being pushed further back, and I know people are probably holding back from buying used lcds hoping these are going released soon (myself included), so I just wanted to know what's going on.
