#1: Can I use laptop hdd in place of the floppy drive I have a dozen or so laying around and im not sure if the pinouts match

#2: Is it ide compatible?

#3: Is there anyway to port the 2kxl os to my 2k

2. only removable drives (zip or card reader)

the latest 2000 classic OS is almost identical to the 2000xl OS...

the 2000 classic does not have an IDE port, SCSI only (check the back of your mpc).

floppy drives may be replaced only by other floppy drives... or floppy drive emulators such as that one talked about here on the forums (was it hxc or somethign like that?)

I was thinking about replacing the floppy drive with the hdd and if im not mistaken or what ive read was lies doesnt the xl's os "chop up" samples automatically? and there's no way to use a cf reader in place of the floppy..damn those floppys are no good
