300 Breaks ? anyone?

Im know they have..

they have spent thier time programming drums in the past.

they have put thier fair amount of work in

they will still get respect even if they do use premade drum loops

- for me right now - I dont see how it would be fun to lay a melody over top of a premade drum loop unless I was collabing with someone else.

I feel you well im doing both, using the original breaks and chopping some parts

Then I guess you didn't listen to too much Pete Rock, Diamond D or Large Pro stuff from 92-95, because most of their tracks of that period were straight breaks. Most of these cats didn't start programming breaks until "after" that.

like i said man no dis- Im just sayin diamond pr and large deserve a little more credit than that. sure they used loops on some tracks, but those three influenced the way a lot of cats chopped beats back then. there are too many examples, because chopping and reprogramming beats has really been around since Marley Marl. Some that come to mind off the top, tho, are Nas Illmatic and PR and CLs Main Ingredient. I still look at those two albums alone as infulential to how I chop and do drum patterns, even to this day

My opinion? When u download these breaks and then just loop em into ur socalled "beat", i think it's WACK...
But if u chop the loop up to all one hits it's all good. I do it this way cos it's hard to find the right kicks, hats and snares from loosely sampled drumhits..
By chopping up a loop, u'll get the sounds that fit together straight away.
Sometimes i still look for seperate hits though...
I only use "dry" loops, none or minimal fx on it before i cut them into pieces. This way i can add my own fx to it....
I have a friend who drums and i've recorded his hits and breaks so i had "original" drumsounds....

So, don't loop! CHOP, CHOP, CHOP!

did anyone get this file where ALL the breaks work? i cant believe the winstons break is all craped out in mine...not like i dont have a million different versions, but it would be nice if the set was complete. this is nice.
