M-Audio Axiom 25 + Planet Phatt Sound Module + MPC 1000

I want to use the Axiom 25 to play back sounds from the Planet Phatt module via MIDI and record it into FL Studio and its Piano Roll, so in case I hit the wrong key, I can move it around in Piano Roll

I want to lay down all my chops, percussion and bass, etc. on my MPC and record its 6 outs into FL Studio into 6 individual channels as audio .

::What would be the best way to get this all setup? This Axiom 25 has no audio outs, only MIDI in and MIDI out. So where would the audio cables come from, the Planet Phatt or would I just connect it via USB to FL Studio?

1. Axiom 25 midi out to MPC midi input.

2. MPC midi out 1 to Planet Phatt midi input.

3. MPC audio outputs to audio interface inputs.

4. Planet Phatt audio outputs to audio interface inputs.

5. Audio interface is connected to your computer running FL Studio.

6. Monitors or headphones connect to your audio interface.

You will need an audio interface with at least eight audio inputs, 6 for MPC1000 and 2 for Planet Phat.

but thank you clint for the detailed breakdown man. i was unaware any MIDI would go through the MPC.

so to fully understand this, the keyboard will be the one playing back the sounds from the planet phatt and i'll still be able to play back .wav drums and chops on the MPC 1000?

So...Will I be able to record drum tracks inside the MPC 1000 and have the sequence looping and then turn around in my chair and play something on my keyboard using sounds from the Planet Phatt, all at the same time...live?

Yes, keyboard triggers sounds from the planet phatt via midi in/out. Kybd, Planet phat and mpc audio outs go to a mixer or audio interface in order to hear sounds. Midi cables don't carry sounds.

Yes. Which is your master sequencer? Sequences will be recorded to the MASTER sequencer. FL or MPC which is it? You said drum tracks to mpc?!?

Master sequencer is the one who records the pad hit and key hit data, data only. Like I said sound will come from each machines audio out to a mixer/audio interface. What is your mixer/audio interface?

well im not exactly sure which would be my master sequencer man, im wanna try to break it down hopefully where its easier to understand what im trying to say

I want to use the Midi Keyboard (which doesnt have audio in/outs) to ONLY trigger the sounds from the Sound Module. And instead of recording the audio outs of the module into the MPC and taking up memory and space, i wanted to route that Audio into FL Studio....and I also wanted to be able to see where each note hit and the velocity of each note that I play on the keyboard, show up inside Piano Roll, so I could fine adjust/tune each note, which would mean I need some kind of Midi connection somewhere to see these notes in Piano roll, but im not sure where/which Midi to hook up to/where to achieve this.

On MPC 1000, I wanted to be able to just plain and simply play and record drum sequences on the MPC1000 and just set the sequence to loop. So then I can just turn around in my chair and play my midi keyboard (which would be triggering sounds from the planet phatt). Then once I got everything sounding good and in time, I would just record the MPC 1000's 6 outs into FL Studio.

Im using a Firewire Alesis IO/26 Audio/Midi Interface. It has 8 inputs, which would be perfect for mpc 1000 6 outs and planet phatts 2 outs, BUT it also has 1 Midi In-1 Midi Out


Would the Alesis Io 26's Midi In and Out come into play anywhere?

from what youve just said, you want fruity to be yer master sequencer.

yes. because yer computer (in conjunction with the alesis), is yer master sequencer.

plug the midi out of the keyboard into the midi in on the alesis. plug the midi out of the alesis into the midi in on the planet phatt.

play with that.

forget about midi to the mpc for now. you could potentially have a more powerful setup with it later, but you've got to work your way up there.

Using the MPC sequencer is the better option for the setup I described.

It has the functions of a piano roll editor, so get to know the machine.
