I've had my MPC covered for about a month, and when I was using it today the F buttons (under the LCD) some of them seem to feel as if they stick, like there is no click. They still work, but I just don't like they way they feel and I'm puzzled as to why they do this.

Can the cold cause this?

The same thing happened to the power buttons on my CDJ's.

Anyone had a problem like this and any way to resolve it?

Took the MPC apart, noticed some sticky stuff by the CD drive, clear. So I took the case off and there was some near the buttons and the pads underneath were covered in it. Luckily it was nowhere near the electrics. If Akai didn't make pad mats, and made the pads singular it could have been a tragic story.

I have no idea what it was because I don't even drink near the music gear. The kid must have got some sort of sweets near it.

Could just be general gunk off your hands that builds up after a long time. Or if you smoke in your studio I doubt that will ever aid any attempts at keeping things clean.

Something was defiantly spilt on it. I have a suspicion the girlfriend knocked something over on it whilst cleaning it and failed to tell me because I'd hit the roof.

You seen those kids candy where it's like liquid sugar? It was like that. It was literally all over the pads on the inside and near the buttons which was causing the stickiness. Maybe he left his candy on whilst messing about throughout the house.

Ah well, it's done now and cleaned. Door is locked. No **** can get in.
