Most cf reaaders seem like they prefer to use CF cards, I use a yellow lexar, 512mb. My cf reader doesn't seem to like sd cards at all. It has the slot but it just doesn't wanna work with sd's even though when the cf reader is in my computer all 7 slots work fine with all cards.
If you have an sd camera card, save the cards contents to your computer and then use the sd in the mpc to see if it will work. Remember to save your cameras contents on your computer just to be safe, you can replace all the cameras stuff after you finish experimenting with the sd card.
