Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hi guys

another question about the mpc2k xl... do you think the fx board it's worth the money?
is the delay synchable to bpm?
can I modulate the parameter in realtime, possibily with an external midi controller and if yes, what about recording those CC in the sequencer, like recording the realtime tweaking of the fx paramters?

thanks

is it worth the money? how much are we talking about? is it worth 100 bucks, maybe yes... the effects are not really great... they are quite dated. however it adds another feature to the mpc that I like.. mainly I use the parametric EQ. I would never pay those crazy 300+ dollar prices ever....

the delay, hmmm... I believe it is bpm synchable yes... I cant be 100 percent sure because I rarely use it... it's probably been a year+ since I even touched that effect.

I dont think the params of the eb16 are controllable via midi or any other thing... they are a set and forget type of thing. I believe the non eb16 low pass filter is though...

Agreed, not worth 300 bucks but I think worth 100 bucks I like the EQ and delays on it! Peace

thanks for the input.
more happy than ever to have a large mixing desk! I'll skip the fx board and process the sounds with the send on the mixer. I can bpm sync my external delays and "midicontrol" the reverbs which is really important for me, so i'm not gonna bother with the optional fx board.
I wonder if I can just record CC data automation on an mpc miditrack (my guess is that it works, why shouldn't it), so I could use a midi controller to say modulate the parameters of a reverb unit, record those CC modulations and play them back from the mpc, sending midi to the rack unit so I could entirely skip the computer but still have automatable fx sweeps- a must for my dub stuff.

yes you can do this - thats what the mpc is designed for.
not with the internal fx though.

^ YES! if you have this stuff already, then that is the best solution. yeah the eb16 is nice because it reloads your fx settings however that is the main bonus.

you can just write down or save the settings on the external effects units if needed as a workaround.

if your external effects have params that can be tweaked via midi CC... this can be sequenced with the mpc. I suggest doing each knob/param automation on it's own mixer track as well so you can mute and unmute it later on.

Like what was said here already, it's a decent buy for $100 not $300.
It's really nice to be able to add fx and use it as an effects sketch pad so when your later on able to track to daw you have an idea. It's also cool to have onboard fx, ya know everything in the box stand alone. Either way, it's not the best of fx and you'll later want better fx.

that's a very good idea! can't wait to have the studio up and working again to try this out.

this forum is a nice place to be guys, nice one

that's already the problem with my effect units. from behringer to alesis to lexicon was a long and expensive way, now that i heard an eventide orville at a friend's place i realized how expensive are nice effect boxes.
that being said, i still have a behringer and an alesis along with the lexicons in my rack -lofi effects have their charme, when used well.

I think it's worth buying. I used mine a lot for live gigs.
And like Lamp said, it's nice to use as a "sketch pad" for fx ideas down the road.

I think I'll skip it -even if I will play live with the mpc I'll have a mixer with three fx racks so I can use sends/returns for that.

yeah, that's why I pretty much only use that to add some extra bump to kicks and bass samples etc...

stereo would have been sweet though.

I have a pretty dumb question. I'm about to buy an MPC and have to choose between 1k and 2kxl. I've learned pretty much about, but i still cannot find the answer for the next question: Without the FX board, i cannot add effects on the 2kxl? For example, a reverb or an echo (delay)?

Thanks!!!

???
if you dont have the fx board on an xl you cannot add fx.
you can always use external fx.
go with the 1k. you wont need to an fx board or an extra outputs board cause it is built in. you can also use usb and flash cards.
