While everyone is asking Akai about the new MPC's on twitter. I asked if there would be any updates to the 5K. To my shock the answer was YES!!!!! To be announced at Namm.

More people need to get at Akai to let them know not to forget about us and keep up development.

actually if they updated the 5k with a new powerful OS and they let the unit control the software there would be a serious overlap with the new mpc ren, but the 5k would be standalonel... best unit ever ^^
do you think they will just fix bugs and add some features?

Looking forward to the new OS. Hope it's better than we could all imagine. I've held an interest in the 5000 since it was released. But I've had to wait it out cautiously before making any decision to buy one. There's so much potential in this model and it's capable of so much, as long as Akai decide to remain dedicated to it after they release the new OS.

Jah's gonna be out of pocket if they upgrade the 5k to work with the VMPC. He'll have to buy the 5k (again) plus the Ren AND the Studio!

I would like to see a redesign of the way they handle bank changes messages.
