I've been trying to figure out lately -

In the Program Menu under Params, the filter seems to be just a low pass filter. Is there any way to change this to a high pass filter?

I've read the manual and didn't see it in there. I'm feeling like the answer is no. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks

No high pass filter, nope.

And that low pass is only 1 pass, it leaves alot to be desired.

i love the 2kxl, its a real smooth work flow for me and i dont desire to switch to a different machine but this is one of the drawbacks that i really dont get. why not make it a high and low pass filter...

im yet to really use another mpc extensively. do the others have high pass? im assuming the newer models liek the 1000, 2500, and the 5000 do. but u need the effect chip for all the older models?

yea the new ones do include more filter types as does the 4000.

the effects card isn't even really a filter it's more like a parametric eq type deal.

Yes, newer models have hipass but no mater what skeptical I was about the 2kXL lowpass filter it is way better sounding than the new filters.

Akai should release a new update rectifying everything WE (MPC-Forums users who are the authority on MPC 2000xl lol) want them to. They should also give us Media Card's for free just to say thanks for not punching them in the mouth when they released them god awful Arnold Schwarzenegger couldnt get a full sound from it without full level on ass pads.

I have actually seen those external filter modules Z4 and Z8 on eBay as I was searching around for my current MPC. I was really interested in getting them but for both it would totally break my budget.

I think those would probably do the trick. However I am more interested in the 8 output expansion, as I'd be able to hook that up to an 8 channel mixer for better signal handling.

^ wait.. the z4 and z8 are samplers.. sort of like the rack mount version of the mpc4000 without the sequencer

I think it would be really useful as I have the machine now, with only the stereo outs. That way I could use it either to filter samples as I record them in, or use it on the master as more of an effect.

Still, at the moment it seems more worthwhile for me to purchase the 8 out expansion. Trying to find one for cheap.
