Polyphony should have been higher.reading mp3 files is great.going usb is where everyones at,cant complain about that.interested in the sound of it.

Sound on Sound says the analog output circuitry is identical to the mpc 3000.
Can't wait for a/b comparisons in the future. Identical is not the same to me.

wait though, not to doubt the sound or anything... but isn't the input circuitry a huge component to how the machine sounds (unless of course you loaded into the 60/3000 instead of sampling?)

Well I am guessing it is designed to run on a 64 bit OS.. since it has a suggested 8gb of ram requiring at least 2gb (suggested 8gb, not to say that isn't the norm these days, but that sounds a bit heavy for a pluggin style piece of software...)

in other words, I am guessing it will be making use of the 64 bit OS and will likely be optimized for multi threaded computers.

so why does it have mpc3000 vintage mode?

Maschine had these "vintage" modes but were not physically real or didn't sound like the real thing. I tried it and i guess it's my trauma that doubts this for Akai.

It seems some of you have shifted your positions...no?

Vintage mode is pretty useless. If you understand frequencies and develop solid sound design techniques you can create your own unique sound. Although that s950 sound is lovely. But if I wanted that sound I would cop one..who cares about a software emulation.

Software emulations/plugins are a huge part of music production today. While I will probably never mix on an SSL console, I can certainly afford to buy SSL plugins to insert on tracks.

Even with using the Vintage Mode emulations, you can still achieve your own sound as you still have all of the Ren's available effect plugins to taylor to your liking.

And I agree some what. The Ren's Vintage Mode is not something I must have.
