MPC 1000 / mixer with microphone

Yoo, I would like to thank you for this forum, so I can get my unresolved problems out here.

Thing is, I finally got my mixer.

My setup is like this::

MPC 1000 -> Mixer -> audio interface -> monitor

The sound is real clear now, so I can record my main out without problems.

I got the main out connected to the 3/4 part, which is a must for stereo and my monitors hooked up to the main out from the mixer itself.

Here is the issue, I connect my microphone to 1, with an XLR cable.
My microphone does gain sound, its clear, no problems with that.. but I cannot record the mic sound with my MPC 1000...
Not with the Analog, digital or main out.. Ive been searching the forums, google, manual etc.

Thanks to my audio interface I CAN record it to my computer, but I don't want that...
I want to use the mic for drum sounds, so I can chop them "live" into the MPC and do my thing with it.

To sample into the MPC you need to connect something to it's "Inputs" at the back.

So you could either do it like this:

Mic ---> Mixer... Main out ---> MPC input... MPC output---> Audio interface

or possible like this, although be careful, I'm not sure if this will create a feedback loop at times:

MPC output ---> Mixer... Main out---> Audio interface

Mic ---> Mixer XLR... Control room out ---> MPC Input

your mic is connected to your mixer's inputs... in order to get that sound into your mpc, you would need the mixer's outs going into your mpc... how else would the sound ever get into your mpc? it won't happen magically... your mixer should have some alternate outs [usually called ALT 3-4]... run a cable from the ALT 3-4 outs to your MPC's inputs... then press the MUTE button on the channel in which your mic is connected to on your mixer... that should run the mic sound into your mpc.

personally, i would have the monitors hooked up to the mixer's MAIN OUTS rather than going into the audio interface... your interface should be going into the mixer, not the other way around... this way once you have the ALT 3-4 outputs going into your MPC, you can also sample from your computer by pressing the MUTE button on that channel instead.

sheeeit... i just took a look at that mixer... not only is it a behringer, but it's microscopic... it looks like it doesn't even have MUTE buttons on it... regardless, the answer should be in the mixer's manual if it's possible... i'm guessing you can pull off the equivalent of what i was suggesting by using the CTRL ROOM outputs as ALTERNATE OUTS and using the CTRL ROOM volume control as a means of selecting what you want to play out those separate outputs.

Haha, yeah i'm on a low budget, need to start somewhere.

I'm 1 cable short for the CTRL Room output.. guess I have to buy it next week.
