MPC 3000LE LCD Screen question

I have my MPC 3000LE in the shop right now and the technician says it needs a whole new LCD screen.

Are these available anywhere? Does anybody have and leads? I know the back lights are out there but I have not seen any of the actual LCD screens for sale. Any information would help!

If I remember right, you can use one from a s3000xl if you can find a donor machine. Some may frown upon this, but screw 'em...

I'm a little surprised it needs a whole new screen though. The displays themselves are very robust. Of course, damage can occur to the display chips/curcuit on the rear, in which case a new one would be the solution.
What was the problem with the display, was it completely blank, were there missing lines, or was the display corrupted?

The only place I knew which had them at one point was mpc stuff but of course at the usual jacked up prices. (roughly $300). They are out of stock at the moment and I don't know if any one else like forat or vst would have them?

It's a shame there isn't a new type alternative for the 3k/60 screens really, I know on some rack samplers, people have ditched the original screens and backlights for newer style lcd with led backlights. The problem is finding one that is compatible with the screen layout.

During use, post storage or after some work internally?

It could be the screen but given that the lights are doing strange things, I would guess that there is something more sinister going on!

I bought the machine off Craigslist for a price I couldn't pass up. The dude who had it said there was "a short" in the machine. I got the impression that he had no idea what he was talking about. Anyway, the audio technician that looked at it said the entire LCD needed replacing.

I thought I could see the pixels on the LCD all change briefly when you switched on the MPC. This tells me that the LCD is probably OK because it is at least getting the power it needs from the mainboard.

Unless that 'flicker' on all the pixels was just a reflection from your camera, but I don't think so.

The backlight inside the LCD is dead but that's a simple fix

I don't have an MPC3000 in front of me, but there seems to be something else wrong with that MPC. As Beatdiggerjazzcat suggests, this looks like something else - it could be a faulty OS chip, or an OS chip fitted the wrong way round (doesn't the OS problem cause some LED's to light at full brightness though?)

You definitely need a second opinion because I really don't think a replacement LCD will help here.

Things that need checking first:
- that OS chips are seated correctly
- that all connectors are present and not loose
- the voltages from the power supply should be checked

Also look on the back of the MPC and check if it is a 220-240volt model, stranger things have happened.

Can someone with a 3000 tell us which (if any) LED's light when you switch on the machine?

Hi, Can't advise with regards to the screen but button lights all on like that imply a bad cable seat. Try re-seating all internal cables if you haven't already.
