Curious

Just ordered a 2000xl that comes with the installed zip drive, but I plan on upgrading to the MCD Drive. I'm curious to see if I could install this drive from one of my PC's....has anyone tried doing that?

I am pretty sure you can't, that drive you are showing there use an USB connection, you can only use SCSI and IDE/ATAPI with the 2KXL.

exactly, that is a USB card reader.

check the 2000/2000xl section though because there are threads relating to cf readers (who cares about SD cards on the xl, they are not as good as the cf ones) you have ones that come with bracket mounts and you have a thread I made talking about $1.50 cf readers that you must build your own bracket but they work on a budget.

Thanks, I'll probably just end up buying the MCD Kit on Mpcstuff, can't wait till my 2000xl gets here next week. Also are there any retail stores that still sell zip disk?

why not get an external scsi card reader?

they cost a grip, well at least on mpcstuff.com but I'll look into it...any suggestions where to look and buy?

Get the Addonics ADIDECFB which works at a fraction of the cost of the MCD Kit sold by MPC Stuff. You'll have to drill two holes (luxus version) or glue the bracket which holds the floppy.
I bought a card reader form ebay for 100 USD (it came with cards and samples, I thought lets get this since its surely better than the addonics) and it didn't work well, so I ended up buying the addonics anyway
