need to know anything else?

I remember that thread though. It was pretty dope. Everybody chimed in trying to definitively establish which S-series models had comparable innards to each MPC of those eras.

The biggest difference between Akai MPC and Akai S series (S900, S1000, S2000, etc) is that S series samplers do not have sequencer build in, and MPC is a MIDI sequencer with sampler build-in.

As a sampler, Akai S series offer more option for sampling processing, like key groups, than MPCs of the same era.
Generally S series was for keyboard players who wanted to play sampled instrument. S series' popularity was replaced with laptop (w/ audio interface) with VSTs.

Thx for the answers and for the funny lines, appreciate both :)

I'm referring to a thread in which there was a very nice comparison between the s series and mpc converters... something like:

mpc60 same converters as s900/950

mpc3000 same as s3000/2800

or something like that... I think it was a very useful thread...

can you help me finding it again, or just rewrite the comparison chart?

thx again
