Im trying to break away from the Cult of Mac, I swear up and down that I will not break down and buy yet another overpriced status symbol, but dating supermodels is the only thing Im used to, so I am loathe to the idea of crawling in the sack with a windows 8 machine, which you all must know by now, will include a "Kill Switch" that will allow the Overlords to turn off your 'puter by remote control...

...So here I am, yet again, trying to justify dropping $1300 on a Renny, and then an equal amount on ANOTHER MAC...ARGGG

If and I mean if I go for a Ren then I will use a mac.
Picked up one on eBay earlier on this year - there are some great deals out there - you just need to look.
But right now - Ableton has put a serious dent in my plans to go for a Ren.
In fact to be honest - If you're looking at spending that kind money I'd almost be more tempted to go for an Octatrack...
But - for the sake of answering the question, I'd say mac. More stable in my experience.

Use original instruments/vsti's and such for a change.

The same computer I'm using now to come to this site. It is a no brainier the ren is nothing more than a mpc sequencing plugin with an integrated controller sound card. Something I wanted for years. If my current model (iMac)can run Logic, Ableton, maschine and tons of vsts I got now the measly little ren or studio should be a easy peasy.

On a side note, has anyone seen if the VST/AU will have a 64bit version? Certainly those of us with recent i7's and i5's will want to take advantage of all our cores and accessing the larger amounts RAM many of us currently have.

The new units/software should run fine on any recent PC or Mac with 4-8GB of RAM. But as Maschine has shown the VST hosting can become an issue without proper multicore support. (You can use all your RAM in Maschine 64x but it runs everything on one core and pounds the hell out of it.)

I have my little lab set up to run it on both PC and Mac. I have a PC i5 2.3gHz, 8 GB of memory and an iMac Core Duo 2.5 gHz, 4 GB of memory.

My iMac, although older, seems more stable. This the platform I will probably rely on. Either way, I will use these two computers and see if I am happy about their performance. Eventually, I may get a Mac Pro if Apple releases a new model or just go with a new iMac with Thunderbolt.

I was thinking about a Mac Mini but my sales guy at Sweetwater introduced me to the Creation Station. Its PC and can be customized to meet demanding specs in music production, something that Gateway and Dell used to do back in the day. I'll have to wait until the Ren drops in order for them to meet my needs though.
