ok so i see a mpc 1000 wit 128mb insatlled for "320 obo" on craigslist i think that might be a steal .... correct me if im wrong.

i only use a 2kxl never really thought about getting a 1000 ... i was going to scoope another mp up adventually but i was thinkin more so a 4000 or a 5000 maby even the ren when it comes out ... will see ......am i stupid to let this one go ?

at that price, it's probably the older blue model with the old faulty pads... but if it isn't i'd say get it asap.

If it has the new style pads probably a good deal, if not then that's another $180 you have to add.
Puts you at $500.
Now add $123 for JJ OS2xl since that's the only way the 1k truly exceeds the other units you mentioned (4k or 5k).
Puts you at $623 for a proper 1k so that could be your total.

If it has the new pads then that removes $180 cost and you could start with JJ OS1 for $59 then later upgrade to OS2 or OS2xl for a few dollars.
That would put you at a more realistic number of $$379.

Some will say you don't have to have JJ but you are comparing it to the 4k and 5k which means JJ is necessary.

Ask about
-the color blue or black
-condition of the switches and jog wheel
-old or new style pads
-functionality of the CF reader

he hasnt hit me back yet but uit does say blue unit ... hmmm kinda iffy .. will see what he say

if it's the blue model and the seller DIDN'T mention the pad upgrade in the description... then i'm almost positive it has the old pads. i highly doubt someone would spend $180 on an upgrade and then not mention it when selling the MPC. it's still not completely useless as is or anything... depending on it's condition... you may be able to get a couple of years of use out of it before the pads start acting up.

The only drawback is that you still have 12 pads that are probably close in life to the 3 you replaced.
Maybe you'll get lucky and get some life out of them but your best bet would have been to put the other $150 in for the new pads.

They give better reliability, improved response and are also necessary for any pad customizing.

Not wishing no bad on you, just making a point.

If you can get some life for $30 then it's a win.

the top 8 pads are smooth
the bottom 8 are a lil jenky but its wat ev
i just adjusted my pad settings so there really sensative and it works coo

wanna customize mine tho
ill get that upgrade lol
