Is there anyone out there that has the following set up, or something extremely close?

MPC2500
ASR-10
Mbox 2

I'm asking because I have preordered the Stu but definitely want to keep my 2500 hooked up and ready to go at all times especially until i get used to the software... With my setup, how would would you go about achieving this?? Even if need to buy things, I just want to know.

These new midi cables that are coming with the Stu seem non existent as of now...

If you have the ASR-10 and an MPC2.5K connected to an Mbox 2 now...adding the MPC Studio doesn'tnegatively impact your set-up. You only need an avaiable USB port. The Studio should allow you to use the MBox 2's audio and MIDI inputs/outputs.

I have an Maschine Mikro that acts as an MPC. A midi keyboard that was 30 bucks that acts as a ASR. I also have a nice audio interface as I record guitar/bass into it. Along with turntables. Pro Tools/Logic/FL Studios have all just completely opened new realms of production.

Since the midi ports are already in use with the current pieces there are no available ports. The Mbox 2 only has 2 ports....does that help clarify? :(

What do you need clarification on?

The MBox 2 has 2 MIDI ports (1 input/1 output) with or without the MPC Studio in your set-up. The MPC Studio has 2 MIDI ports (1 input/1 output). The specifications on Akai's website and video demos don't discuss the MPC Studios capabilities when using 3rd party interfaces....but you will most likely be able to use both the Mbox 2 and MPC Studio MIDI ports.

We won't know 100% until the final specs are released. Hopes this answers your questions.

Ok, last try...I want the ability to use both MPC's interchangeably. If I feel like starting with the either mp, I want to do so without disconnecting or rearranging any midi cables. So with mbox as the interface and the limited midi ports that are already in use, is it possible add the studio to the current setup or will the 2500 need to be disconnected so the midi ports are available for the studio?

No way, just impossible.

Now this was the craziest quote of all, hell no. It can act, but thats all it can do is ACT. Please don't ever get any of those pieces of hardware confused with a controller K :). Thank You

I would need to know exactly what you are trying to accomplish to assist you.

If you are trying to control/sequence the ASR-10 from your MPC 2500 or MPC Studio without disconnecting MIDI cables...you will need some additional MIDI device/router as the ASR-10 has only one MIDI input.

The ASR is only used as a controller, all sequencing will done either via DAW or Studio depending on how the MPC works as a plugin. My 2500 is always a slave to PT and would continue to be a slave but if I got the impulse to create a track on the 2500 I want to do so without rearranging the midi cables. Thanks Jah, it looks like I'll have to wait on providing more info because I'm not sure how the Studio is going to work in Protools just yet. The more I think about i can achieve my goal by buying new midi cables splitters......
