having trouble lining up my hi hats

im having trouble getting my hi hats lined up with my tracks.
what should i do to correct this?

Get your timing on point.

Check your Timing Correct, if its on, then turn it off and try recording like that.

Also, it might not be the hi-hats, it could be the whole drum kit off and the hi-hats was right the whole time. So once again, you need to up your timing game.

try making sure your drum hits are trimmed correctly until you figure out where the problem lies...

another tip you could try is... in the mixer, turn all the drums down in volume to half way... so that way when you are recording, you can hear the metronome louder and clearer... then stop, play it back... if it sounds the way you want it... go back to the mixer and turn the drums back up.

you can also slow down the tempo of your sequence so as to make getting the timing of the hihats easier. Shuffles and swings in hihats can get lost if timing correct is used, because it will override the subtle timing shifts, as it will shift the timing of your hits to that timing correct setting. So as Ill-Green says, turn it off and slowing it down, and hitting the pads just like drumming. Then edit this and one hit at a time till it is where you want it. So its like doing a rough sketch first, that you can then fill in to get the desired picture of the hihats, after.
I have been doing drum and base, house, electro and break beats. The hihats are a fundamental part of these beats and its all about the nuances in swing and shuffle that lend the beats great movement and impetus.
Muting open hihat against closed hihat will also lend realism, as the closed mutes the open just like IRL.

I find that beer helps also...
