I've been considering coppin' a 500 to bring with me to work so as to keep the creativity goin' even when I'm not at the lab. Is the 500 as solid for this purpose as I believe it to be?

All you need is 6 AA batteries and you'll bang out for 3 to 4 hours. Slap in those Lithium AA batteries and you can bang out for 6 to 8 hours.

I tried to make beats during my breaks but there's so much distraction from the daily gossips to mofos just staring at you. Best times for me to make beats at work is during national holidays when no one is in the building. People say I'm crazy for working on those days, but I'm getting paid to do nothing so I take advantage of the time and make beats. Then during a rush day, I just take off and still get paid because I worked the holiday that everyone wanted off on

The 500 is all I've got. I had a 1000 for a week and traded it back for the 500 because of the portability. The only reason I get to make most of my music on it is that I can go to the park in my car at lunch or hang out on the back porch or in the living room on the couch. Sometimes I wish I could name samples with more than 8 characters but that doesn't stop me from making music. I'm happy! I use 12 Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries so I can swap them out for a fresh set while I'm charging the others.
