Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi, I recently got an MPC2000 and this display is "laggy". Sometimes it takes almost a second for a keypress to change the screen state. Other times there is "garbage" on the screen. It's not severe, but it does concern me.

Is this normal behavior for a "healthy" MPC2000 classic?

Thanks for any info.

well lag, I mean when you go into trim.. it takes a few seconds for waveforms to display... and sometimes if you stop the sequencer while changing a menu it may take a half a second to get there...

but lagging during regular button presses and seeing garbled characters is not normal.

I suggest you open it up and make sure the ram sticks are properly seated.. also, if you boot the mpc2000 and go to the testing mode you can do a memory test check to make sure the sticks are working properly.

When you boot the MPC what does the screen say while booting?
Any splash screens or messages appear?

Sounds like the unit might have a MPCStuff screen installed.

Yes indeed. That does explain the behavior. It's one of those new MPCStuff screens.

It works fine; I was just a little surprised by that lag. But it's not a huge deal.

Thanks!

On the newest firmware the lag seems to have been tightened up a bit, as well as some of the other glitches.. so get on to mpcstuff for the update.. or wait, as I sent them a vid on another issue.. maybe better to see if that gets fixed first to save posting it back and forth.

Definitely the best way to show Mike a problem.
When I described my initial problems with the screen sending him a video made things pretty clear and he was able to forward it to Envisions.
