In 128 the pad set up is saved by the pgm - that's a little difference that'd very convenient. I Would love to see an os3 without the screen/CPU limitations.

kinda sad that os2xl wont get any new features... bug fixes at most it seems. But on the bright side, it's a really complete OS and I'm perfectly happy with it

Does anybody know if you can still run older OSes on the big screen? Since so much has changed (and because we don't know what features will make a return), I would need that for backward compatibility with the 250 or so tracks I've done in previous versions of JJ.

No, that's why the screen ships with OS128, it's required for the larger screen.
OS128XL is the only other OS that will work with the large screen.

I don't like the idea of swapping screens just to open up old projects. And as much as I 'borrow' from myself, backwards compatibility is a requirement. So until this new screen/os has enough features to offer at least 75% backwards compatibility, I'm sticking with what I got.

Looking at the main screen screenshots, it seems you're now able to freely set midi input ch for a track (not limited to 1->16).

Not interested in 128 at the moment, but requested this feature and would love to see it on future versions.

Is it possible that there could be some kind of cpu upgrade in the future? It seems like this would be the obvious upgrade before a large screen or certain features that would bog down the current cpu (otherwise you have to drop other features and that's what makes people not want to upgrade).

I'm really happy with OS2XL (and the current screen for that matter) so as of right now I don't see myself upgrading. We'll see, maybe this is just something for those that want a bigger screen and there is still an OS3 in the works for everyone else.

That would require a complete re-engineering of the machine. And if you're going to do that, then you might as well design a new machine from the ground up. But hey, if JJ built it, I'd buy one...

Thank you very much sooty G for passing this along. THank you. To me it seems that he is focusing on the large screen upgrade and might put some of these new things in the OSXL some time later.
I read a couple of things in this. To me it makes sense that as its a gimped OS to run the screen, they will put in features that will tempt us, and not make them available to other OS's to make it more desirable. But to me most OSXL users want maximum features and stability foremost. I am assuming this, but its gotta be more than cool factor that makes people pay right? So as they have a monopoly on this they can dictate the terms here. But this has a down side, in that no one buys screen upgrade, as people know that there are features missing to be able to run the screen, myself being one wont buy into it at all. What i am saying is i understand that the feature set is less because of screen, in some ways that is ok, but not if you have a better featured OS already. not going to downgrade!
Also seems to me that if he did implement the new features into JJOSXL it would only sell more licenses because it is so good. The whole changing the FX routing thing is the most mind blowing thing i have seen. That is to be understated. It is an amazing idea, but still wont make me get a screen at all. No it just make resent the fact that the thing is made at all, and just seems a vanity project. Sure more screen is good, but how is half the OS a good thing? its not IMHO. not as a trade off anyways.
I am being very objective, if I would compare the OSXL128 and screen to JJOSXL with normal screen, I would choose OSXL easy. Because features are more useful to me than a better screen. And this is what most people will think. The big screen will be seen as a gimmick. Im thinking this and that cant be good. So please Murai consider adding these features to JJOSXL as soon as you can. Let the screen sell on its OWN MERITS, not by dangling feature sets in front of us like a ball of string in front of a kitten. We are a devoted, if not vociferous group of users, and will be behind seeing any development. Its just making my blood boil thinking about how bloody close JJOSXL is to perfect, just a few more tweaks and features and it wont need much more
So thanks again sooty G for passing the word on. I mean no offense intended, and please if MPC stuff or anyone else wants to repudiate my views then I am all ears, or do I have a fair grasp of what is going on??

Look everyone lets not **** too much about it, i made my views about it above, but can move on and hope, pray, and beg that the new features will one day be in JJOSXL. I mean maybe 3 months more I can wait, kinda, chain smoking and all. So lets focus on the fact that something is being done and these new features are the bomb arnt they?? I mean did any one see the FX routing thing coming at all? I sure didnt. And he has made an invert phase to by the looks of it. woohooo. Its ironic getting excited about features you have no idea if you will ever see at all isnt it.
