Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By ChingyDi Fri Jun 29, 2012 7:24 pm
I can get the 2000 for $475, is it worth it? I will have to pay $80 dollar for shipping as well. And i would have to buy a new power cord for it because the one that it comes with is US. This is at mpcstuff

The ram is fully upgraded

if it were the 2000XL then yes... but you can find regular 2000s for cheaper than that rather frequently.

Too much money.
Just wait for the Ren to drop before you buy. Unless you need a unit right away. I waited and got my 4000 for $500. It is in immaculate condition, no finger stains or anything. I have a feeling that you will see nice units on sale for cheap pretty soon.
If money is no object then forget what I say.
cheers,
Ian

I don't have the money right now to buy any mpc, i will get it over the summer in august one time. When you say wait for the ren to drop, do you mean that alot of people will sell their mpc cheap and it be a good time for me to buy one?

And i am trying to get away from software(prolly only use to record) and was then thinking of getting a workstation. The asr-10 seems very good and i could get it on ebay. Any suggestions on workstations and other mpc models? I can get the 1000 brand new at the music, $770 if that is something i should look into.

They have not answered about the smpte, the fx board and the 8 outs.

They also said i would need to buy one of these to be able to put sounds on the 2000:
floppy drive($55)
external compact flash($275)
used cd externa($100)

If they told you that you need a floppy drive, then it sounds like it does not even have a working floppy drive.

and they want 275 for an external compact flash card? you can get one just like it for a lot less from mpcstoragesolution.com

an external cdrom drive at the suggested price is about right unless you wait and be patient and buy at a lower price. something will pop up.

there is always zip drives and hard drives for loading and saving. shop around.

but, overall 475 for an mpc2000 is way too much. just go to ebay so get a feel for pricing on mpc2000. also, note the add-ons like the 8 outs, effects board, smpte, etc.

for that coin, you could the better of the mcp2000xl. just look around on ebay to get a feel for prices on samplers.

word.

I have forgot about this mpc. I checked on ebay before i even came to mpcstuff but many of the people selling their mpc 2000 are not shipping to norway. I might be able to get it shipped to my uncle living in US and then he ships it to norway for me but that i believe will be alot of money aswell. But ill wait until a good offer comes up on ebay or get one of the other mpc's, but ill wait!

waiting sounds good.

check out ebay in the United Kingdom. See some listed there (mpc2000 and mpc2000xl).some shipping anywhere in europe.

keep in mind that the mpc2000 does not have an internal atapi or scsi port. and the mpc2000 relies on the external scsi port to be in good working order to connect a decent storage device.

but just wait as there are good offers that do pop up from time to time. good luck.

Aight, that mpcstuff s*** is to expensive, forgot about it yesterday.. It doesn't even have the smpte, the fx board or the 8 outs. I'll just wait and check on ebay until i find a good offer.

How do you like the 2000?
