Beat cleaver whats the big deal?

im not again auto chop but as a maschine user what advantages does an application like beat cleaver hold?

seems like every app from fruit loops to mpc can chop in the manner shown by beat cleaver so why they hyping it up like its putting the fun back into sampling?

side note are peeps that lazy that u can sample a loop and u need a program to have individual buttons for slicing into 4, 8, 16 slice?

im yet to use auto chop cos i just copy the samples onto the pads and play with the start points it takes seconds.

I'm not a BeatCleaver user but I would assume the appeal is price, speed (which is also affected by the person) and actually the fact that it's not a part of a larger piece of software like Maschine or a DAW. I can see how it would appeal to those who want something lightweight and focused specifically on sample slicing. Sometimes something like Maschine can be a bit convoluted or too bloated an environment to work in when they aren't sitting down to make a song but instead just want to slice up samples. For example, Maschine's sample organization features don't appeal to everyone (myself included) and it's non-sample editing features and the filetypes it can and cannot support can slow a lot of people down for something so basic. It seems to have a similar appeal to Recycle, except more minimal and less proprietary. That said, I personally don't need it because I use something else entirely but don't think it looks bad per se.

I can't speak about auto-chop or whatever. I do think BeatCleaver offers manual sample slicing though.

having just picked it up..and played with it a bit.. it definately does 'feel' nice to use but id say my pro's list is:

-the fact that it shows the window of the sample your working on as well as a navigation preview below it.. so you can see the whole sample as well as being zoomed in and easily jump to other parts of the sample. that - combined with the way the mouse wheel control your zooming in and out just makes it really fast and easy to use.. kind of like using a nice new laptop keyboard vs those older chunkier ones.

-i dont use the 8-16 etc autochop..cos i like to control every chop, but the quick export of your chops - even though other ones can do the same thing... is definitely quick.

-but the other reason this app is awesome is that its still early days.. so user feedback has the opportunity to make its way into early stages of the development. ive seen enough proof of that that im kind of excited about where this app is going.
