I was having trouble with AKsys...turns out Dabmeister is a computer wiz as well as a member of the DC music scene. Lots of knowledge shared, and laughs...plus he has great gear.

Big ups to my main man Ian. It's good to know there's some well grounded dudes out here such as himself. And thanks Lamp...yeah man, that's the 'ol trusty quik-lok keyboard stand, it's built like a tank. It's actually a 3 tier stand that I've had for years. I just don't use the upper most tier at the moment since I'm not using the asr10 right now.

I wish I had the lab more in working order so I could show my man Ian a few things that could be done with the 4k & a daw.

I broke off some knowledge about ak.sys & utilizing a two track editor, so that he'll be able to take it to a level he's comfortable with.

The 4k is still a powerful tool to have in ones arsenal even after a decade later.

Good to put some faces to the names, and see some dope gear.

Yeah Clint, I thought Ian was a white dude at first because of the conversations we had before he came over.

And after getting an understanding of this brothers livelyhood, I can def see his character matching his life style...which is a good thing.

But regardless of what we're about when it comes to providing for our fams, we all still have something in common when we break for our man cave endeavors.

Us 4k owners are kinda like the Gentlemen's Smoker's Club of the forum. Not like these rowdy young bucks in the 1k and 2500 forum, dranking them wines, smoking them tweeds and wearing their pants half off their asses!

It's nice to see some positive thing happened with MPC Forums.

You have a Kurzweil K2500! Funny, I just bought K2000 keyboard this weekend for $200 (I wanted to have decent keyboard that I can practice keys without computer. I wanted to have weighed keys, but those there too pricey for me, even with 2nd hand market) So far I haven't find any decent patches on internet, so I guess I have to create my own...

Mine cannot sample directly (although sample can be imported via floppies, etc, the real strength of K series is not as a sampler, but its synthesis, it is a bit more like ASR-10.)
I'd love to see some of your beats created with K2500!

Hey Mike, that's a good analogy to sum up most 4k owners. And btw, the 4k is equivalent to being the godfather of mpc's anyway imo.

So it's only fair to say that for someone to be able to handle such a wise & respected machine, it would take some level of character to make it do what it do.

And to JVC, you should find out if you have a particular rom installed on your k2k. This way you can install those extra sounds that you don't have or maybe you're in need of.

I met up with another forum member while I was away from the forums, we been over to each others crib twice now. He's done some repair work on my MPC60's and my 3000LE. But I help him out with some stuff too, it's good to talk gear now and again.

Beatdiggerjazzcat, he's a cool guy. 2000XL and 2500 owner.

Mike Boogie you're right, us 4000 owners do seem to be the mature, gentlemanly type of MPC owners. I guess that comes from being content with our machines...

Cool man, being a 4000 user, you can feel quite isolated at times. It's good to see you guys hooking up. Hope some mad collaborations grow out of this
