I talked to one of Akai's programmers about it. I already have a plan for those lights.

I mean to the point where you're going to be thinking about the lights. When I use Maschine, I see the lights and know they are there and they help, but I'm not thinking about the actual lights. They are just there and I'm using them, I'm just not conciously/directly thinking about the pad lights. Know what I'm saying?

Definitely homey.
I had an idea of using the lights to color/highlight specific scales on midi/vst tracks. Basically a way to see "only the keys that work." Of course its this would be ideal basically when I'm not around my other keyboards.
It would actually be cool if I could save the color highlights as templates, for example a D Minor template loaded would highlight the pads that correspond to notes on the D Minor scale in say, green.

I'll try it out when I get it and see how I feel about it.

I was listening to a song that was done with a S950 and man was that sample thick and warm.

Akai should come out with a 12 bit 48k interface that emulates the S950.that you can use with the software.

It probably could emulate the 3k, but not the 60 or s950.Theyre probably just implementing the 5K master compressor and calling it vintage mode.

According to the videos, the Vintage Mode is achieved using the Rens hardware and software.

The MPC Studio doesn't have a Vintage Mode or audio I/O. Perhaps Akai can add a software only emulation for the MPC Studio.

I could very well be wrong. However, the videos I seen said it was both hardware and software. The Studio doesn't have this feature advertised.

I can see it now....haters: "Akai stripped down the software of the Studio to force you to buy the Ren." Then you will have the MPC Studio owners in the Ren forum talking sh!t that they "have the same power but for much less and they are using RME Babyface which has better sounding converters and a beter MIDI driver." You heard it from me first

Actually most people people have already deduced that on their own and have stated as such. With the software being identical and RME being a superior product they would be justified in their claim.

......So we actually heard it from you late - not first.

Those that 'deducted on their own' have clearly expressed they are not buying the Studio. I am certainly not talking about those individuals.

I am talking about the legions of Ren and Studio users that will be registering in this forum for many years to come...and the healthy debates that will follow.

Yeah, although I heard it through a YouTube video it sounded like a typical distortion or bit crusher plugin with a litte classic compression.

I think they should come out with MPC 60/s950 type sound card for like 500 dollars that you can use with the software instead of buying a Ren or a Studio. A good 12 bit sound card. #HipHop

Have you ever read the MPC 60 manual? If not, download it from Akai. Read the sections about it's hardware, sampling, and compression.
