Move track from Cubase to MPC 1000 JJOS2XL

I am trying to take a previously recorded song in Cubase and put it into my MPC 1000. I decided to divide the song up in 4 bar sections in Cubase to bounce them down to 1MB wave files. I then imported them to my MPC 1000 hard drive and used the JJOS2XL Sequencer to place the files exactly on bar 1, 5, 9, etc...

I used 116.4 bpm just as the song was recorded in Cubase. My problem is that between bar 8 and 9 there was a little silence so it didn't line up exactly. I tried adjusting the BPM to a little faster, but this didn't work either.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do or any other approaches I can take to getting this song from Cubase to the MPC. I have a lot of space on my MPC hard drive so I was thinking about just recording the song as one long sample.

I hate to suggest solutions that require another app or more layers of complexity, but that is something I would take care of in the box with software. I would take all the loops and load them in Recycle and then get them all the same bpm down to the decimal and export the perfectly matched ones. If not Recycle I'd do it in Ableton, but the bouncing would take a bit longer.

If you record the whole track into the MPC it's a RAM consideration more than HD space. Like if you used JJ audio track it records that audio to the 128MB of RAM not the HD like a PC/Mac or typical HD recorder. Most average length tracks should fit in the 128MB at 16bit 44.1khz though.

are you making seperate sequences ? Then putting the sequences together in song mode? Or doing a massive long sequence in main screen? It sounds like 5 to 8 on the mpc tempo is set a little slow ? So you get the silence when it starts on bar 9 or changes sequence..

I do what your doing the exact same way.. And dont have issues.. unless of course i set the tempo wrong for one of the sequences..

Which version of JJOS2XL are you using?
I think there was a bug fix concerning bar 8/9 in the past.

I'm using JJOS2XL version 3.20.
I tried adjusting the tempo just a little - in tenths of a beat per minute but it was still slightly off.

Since the song is so damned short and I like how the drums stop and start, I decided to try a barebones drum track and re-making the rest around it for now.

We'll see where this takes me

I'm trying to re-edit the drums in ableton live now to get a little more something out of them. Any recommendations for effects and eq levels that may help or would you just say mess about?

a little reverb might help with the click, but i dont know if it would cover it enough. just mess around till you get it probably. or try the one long sample approach, thats what i would do, then you can set it as an audio track and re create your drums under one long sample.

If I were you I would chop the audio in Recycle.


If you don't have Recycle you can use the free-ware software MPC Maid to chop the audio and export into your MPC.
