Hardware Driver Will Not Install

I have had the MPC Renaissance for a week now, but have been unable to use it since I was unaware you needed a computer to make it work. Anyway, I received a laptop today and I cannot install the 'Hardware Driver'

There is a red instruction card that comes with the unit which says:

1. Install Driver Software
-Unpack your MPC Renaissance, accessories and software discs
-Before you plug in your Renaissance hardware, insert the MPC software disc and double-click "Install MPC".
Next, select "Install Hardware Driver"
-After rebooting, connect your mpc Renaissance to a power source and to your computer

This is hard for me to understand. I followed the instructions and was able to double click on "Install MPC". When I do this, it asks if I want to install hardware driver, install software, or install content. As the instruction card says, I chose Install Hardware Driver. First of all, it says the drivers are already installed on my computer, but I just got the thing so I am not sure why it says that, but it asks if I would like to reinstall them so I select 'Reinstall'. Then it asks if I would like to Install the driver, Uninstall the driver, or Exit. I choose install the driver. It says installing ASIO drivers or something like that, then it says "Please plug your USB audio device now to the computer if it's not already connected. This might take a while." What is an audio device? What am I supposed to plug in? The instruction card says not to plug in the Renaissance until after you reboot, so it cannot mean to plug in the MPC. So then it just takes a while and then finally I get "Installation Error Please try these troubleshooting steps before launching the installer again:
-Make sure that you have enough hard drive space (I do)
-Log into your system as the "Administrator" or as another user that has permissions to install software. (I am)
-Windows Users: Disable your system's User Account Control (I did this)
-Windows Users: Scan your system with the system file checker (No Idea what this is)
Unfortunately the installation failed.
(Error: Timeout - 0x0005)

So, I went ahead and tried it again, the next time plugging in the Renissance when it said to "Please plug in your USB audo device" even though the card says not to do this, and I still get the same error.

I am fairly angry that I cannot use this $1,300 device. Does anyone have any suggestions? I knew this was bad ever since I got home last week and plugged the Renissance in and it just kept flashing lights and realized I needed a computer.

What do I do?? This is really unfortunate.

Note: My laptop does not have a CD drive so I am using a USB external CD Rom drive. Maybe a driver can not install over a USB wire and it needs to be installed from an internal CD ROM drive?

Also, I tried to call Akai but they did not pick up.

The audio device it's referring to is the Ren. You will be asked to connect, disconnect, and then reconnect.

But I tried that and it still did not work. Do I need to turn it on? I do not want to do anything that could potentially ruin the MPC. These instructions are telling me one thing on the card and another on the screen, this is very frustrating they did not make the instructions easier to understand.

Should I retry, but when it asks to plug in the USB audio device, I connect the MPC and turn it on?

Thank you for your help by the way, I am very thankful for someone to respond so soon. I really hope I can play with this thing tonight and I can solve this issue. I hope my laptop can handle this. I have never used a computer to use a sampler.

Yes. Plug it in and turn it on. Use the USB port in the back of your computer.

I only have one available USB since the CD ROM takes up two USB ports. And the USB is on the side, it is just a laptop. It is a newer PC and a friend said it should be able to handle this. I will try this again by turning on the MPC. I will keep my fingers crossed and let you know what happens . Thank you

It was. I was able to load the sounds. Speaking of that, they are all I have right now since I do not have a record player so I have been going through listening to everything. I am finding a bug which causes the system to crash, this has happened twice now, but when I am scrolling through the 'browser' and listening to sounds, I do not know what triggers it, but while scrolling it will stop on one sound and keep repeating the sound basically looping it and then after a few seconds I get the cannot communicate with computer screen on the Ren and then my laptop gets the MPC program is not responding error. I think this might be a laptop that cant handle it versus the mpc ren error, but let me know if you have experienced this bug which forces you to restart the ren. I am on a windows 7 laptop i5 8gb ram samsung series 9

Go into to Edit or MPC menu at the top of the page. Select Preferences. In the Preferences menu select other. There will be a button that says hardware info. Click that button and tell me what info it gives you.

I restarted the computer and it hasnt done it since. it seems to run smooth.

Not that section. Click on the 'Other' tab. Then in that menu, there will be a button that says 'Hardware info'. Click that button.
