Please help! Just upgraded OS from 1.06 to 2.13 no sequence

Hello, I just upgraded my used MPC1000 from 1.06 version to 2.13. Bought the Beatmaking Tutorial book and everything, pretty hyped learning everything from scratch.

One big setback though...
I had like 10 sequences and 2 songs before, now when I go to them the sound is barely audible even cranked all the way. The sounds are still normal for all individual samples and programs, just sequences and songs get like zero volume.

Actually, any recording is going to barely any sound! I'm tripping...Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Anyone? I pray to god that this is not defective and that there is something I am just overlooking. Any suggestions or advice will be VERY, VERY appreciated.

I'm trying to think what is different since I lost the sound of all recording / sequences. All I've done is upgraded to 2.13, - trimmed, reversed and normalized some samples (following the beginning tutorials in the Beat Makin e book).
And I've been babying the thing and being very careful with each step.

well if you reverse samples they have a silent beginning, this is the tail of sample, happening first so if this is in mono, and is played quickly then you wont get a chance to hear the sample as it is just getting to play the silent bit first, at the end, as sample is in reverse.
Other wise check out your output in the MPC settings is not -32dB or something like that.

There's no bug here. The gain structure in v1 software was completely overhauled for v2. This was documented at the time but you might have to dig for the relavant posts on this forum since pretty much all of us on here left Akai v1 the first second we got the chance -- i.e. a looooong time ago. Horrible excuse for an MPC OS. V2 sucks too (lots of us don't use that either), but v1... ouch.

Anyway, you can manually reconfigure those programs to work in V2 but it may take a bit of your time. I've never had to do that myself as I tend to just start new projects after a version upgrade. Track down those archive posts to find the specific parameters involved.

I pretty much just had to erase everything I had and go to the factory default settings.

I hope you mean that you performed the default reset on the machine (which you have to do after upgrading it anyway) and didn't erase all your work. It's really just a bunch of gain parameters you have to tweak.

To be honest, Akai are the last people I would consult on this issue or any other. They don't have a good track record and have proven in the past to not even understand their own gear.

I am very happy now and wish I did that right off the bat. I was just kind of cautious because I thought it was going to be a lot different from the original OS manual that I've been studying / practicing. Just the saving and loading alone is a million times better. Started messing with the Trim section a little while ago too and am super hyped! Thank you everyone
