Assign Smaple parts to different pads?

I was wondering if the following is possible eon a 3000

Lets say I sample in a 10 second sample. Is there any way to either:

1) Assign bits of the sample to different pads, without having multiple copies of the sample?

or

2) cut a portion of the sample out have that be a 'new sound' that I could then assign to another pad

Right now, I may pull in a large sample, but find that I want it to be 5 or 6 different samples.

Cool, yeah i figured. Right now, I've just been recording a few times, but wanted to check if I was maybe missing something

you could save a sample and load it to a new pad but that is annoying because you gotta change the name and what not... I used to like using a kaoss pad to run the turntable in (the KP2 has a preamp) and you could filter out odd frequencies if needed.... but, it has 2 pads you can sample directly to that you can use to keep playing back the same sample over and over. you can also play it with your finger on the fx so if you want that filter to layer over the same sample it's easy to do. the KP2 can only record like 4 or 5 seconds on each of the 2 buttons.. the kp3 can do more than that...

Videos on chopping by members here, the 60 vid uses 3.10 OS so is relevant for the MPC3000 also. Or as others prefer, you could chop the sample/s in your audio editor/ DAW and record to the MPC3000 thru the S/PDif input (or analogue) one at a time...

I find the fastest way is to just copy the sample, and chop it down.
Copying samples is pretty fast and easy.

you can also "paste zone" if i recall correctly... its been a while since my 3.10e 60II has been fired up though...

or you could save a "dummie" prog on disk with 16 (ore more) 0,1 samples.

i have done this and chopped the rest like on the holyprophacy vid.

i am curious and not in front of my 3k:
does anyone chopping on a 1k/25k and record the samples from the 1k spdif out to 3k spdif in?

i don`t have an spdif cable right now, but it should work, shouldn`t it?

It should work providing you select the S/Pdif out on the 1000/2500 and S/Dif in on the MPC3000, and use the right cable.

If you don't have the right cable (75 ohm coaxial), just try one side of a normal white/red RCA-RCA audio cable.
