Full screen mode is buggy it seems. I couldn't reproduce the bug, where on TRACK screen notes were shown on different tracks than they actually resided on.

Although the other full screen bug is persistent: in SAMPLE REC mode, the source is always displayed, no matter what. I've added a screenshot to show this. The average forum user should be able to spot the occurence.

For system specs see my previous post just above.

I think i found another bug.

so i chopped a sample, and made a program. decided to 16 level a chop. (pad1)
so i laid the tune down on track 1.
then continued to work another trk (drmz).
so after laying down drums i feel the first track is to loud.
i go to "track mix" and though i can hear it playing there is no reading in led.
and when i lower fader nothing.
i have to go to "prog mix" to change this volume.

This is a case of Ren users needing to read the manual.

In the video, he has an Insert FX on Pad A01. When a user does this, the pad gets routed to a Submix instead of the Track Mixer. This is why the Volume of the Track Mixer doesn't work. The volume must then be adjusted using the Submix knob.

If this is undesirable, don't add Insert Effects at the Program level. Add them at the Track Level as you would do when using a typical DAW.

Masada. Good looking out. I appreciate the assistance. I must have put the wrong URL link in brackets?

Jah that makes since. I did notice the change in submit tittle after I made that vid.
I'm I wrong thinking that the program mix is really just pad mix? I expected the program mix to be just that. Program oo1 on track one, program 002 track 2 and so on..
So program mix is really pad mix.

Hey Jah thanks for pointing out what I miss understood.

Have a good holiday everyone

Program Mix is for balancing the levels, adjusting pan's, etc for all the pads contained within a program.

Programs can be assigned to one or more tracks.

I'm using the MPC plugin with the Cubase Arranger track. I have the Arranger Events separated by 8 bars each so that when I switch to a different arranger event the MPC Sequence receives a program change to switch sequences and does so on the 1st bar of the MPC sequence. When I jump to a new position in the timeline (aka a new arranger event) and the Sequence changes on the MPC but it misses the first few notes in the sequence. Occasionally it doesn't even switch the sequence until the second time around the loop. It's like it takes a few beats to catch up. If I don't change sequences the sequence continues to play smoothly when moving around to different arranger events.

This makes impossible to jump around the arranger events and MPC sequences without it glitching out for a few beats. Which also makes it impossible to perform live like this.

I'm on OS X lion
27inch iMac i5 quad core
Cubase 6.5 32bit

edit: This only happens when I send a program change message to change sequences. If I use next sequence and manually change the sequence in time with the arranger event changes it switches smoothly.

I've complained about this several times. It's the dumbest implementation in the Renaissance, IMO, as a mixing engineer. Completely useless! Being forced to go out of a submix is not intuitive at all because you have no gain meter, no individual output, and no ability to individually track/export that audio. Inserting on the track is a nice alternative except for the fact that I have to repeat and tweaks I make for that plugin for EVERY SEQUENCE. **** wack. Inserting on the pad is just so much more convenient for most shit because the settings stay with the entire program/pad and any changes made to plugin parameters happen in any sequence the program is used in. But apparently, according to Pete Goodliffe, it's impossible for pads with inserts to go out of the track mix. Makes absolutely no sense to me, but I'm no programmer, so what do I know?! What I do know is that Maschine has no problem outputting a pad with an insert to any output you want!

According to NI, Maschine's pads (16 pads, 8 groups for 128 tracks) are equivalent to MPC tracks. With the Ren having 128 tracks that can have 4 inserts per track and routed to any output...what is the difference?

The difference is that if I use that same pad in a different Scene in Maschine, any changes I make to a plugin on that pad in one Scene will have those same changes to that plugin in any Scene. I don't have to go to that plugin in every Scene and make that same change multiple times.

And as far as Machine's pads being equivalent to MPC tracks, this is only true in the case of the midi and sequencing aspect of it. But as far as actual sounds/samples go, Maschine's groups are equivalent to MPC Programs!

Not exactly equivalent....

Maschine has 8 groups with 16 pads per group.

Ren can have 128 programs with 128 pads per program.

If Akai changes the plugin implementation so plugins are not duplicated, wouldn't copy sequences be the solution to your problem?

Nothing is "exactly equivalent" between the two. But the functionality of groups and programs is pretty much the exact same (ie sample assigning per pad, sample editing per pad, mute groups, ADSR per pad, pad volume, pad outputs, pad inserts, pad tuning, etc)

The only thing similar between Maschine pads and MPC tracks is midi notes and midi editing. That's it. You can't even use multiple pads per track on Maschine because pads are tracks. You can't duplicate a track without duplicating the sample because tracks are pads. Just a couple things for example.

Hell yeah!

The other thing that would be nice is if there were program inserts so we can put inserts on an entire program. For example, if I chop a drum break, but don't necessarily want to play all the drum break notes on the same track, it would be nice to be able to apply a plugin to the entire drum break so I can effect the entire drum break the same way without having to put the same plugin on every pad in the program and without having to play the drum break notes all on the same track. Of course this would be useless if setting a program insert forces all the pads out a submix if implemented!
