AKAI MPC3000 Complete Frustration!

thats a shame if so. means people will have to have older computers knocking about.

I keep a old win 98 laptop for some stuff - its gotten me out of trouble a few times when it comes to updating OS on older Emu items like Proteus 2000 for example.

Doesn't seem to work for me.

I suspect it broke after Windows 95/98/ME, when they switched to Windows XP, and being based on the Windows NT core, with the NTFS file system, had completely different disk handling routines that do not like the non-standard FAT12 multiple partitions that the MPC3000 creates.

Need to try to create a CF FAT12 partition that both the MPC3000 and Windows XP/7 can access, if not already possible by some method I am not aware of.


Anyone know if it is possible to transfer files between MPC3000 and Windows XP and/or Windows 7 on a CF card, and if so, how?

Would like to do it, without having to use a Mac in between, when transferring to and from the MPC.

I have read that MPCEditor allows it on Windows XP, does anyone have any info on this, and has it working?

I don't think you should write off USB card readers after one bad experience.


I bought a SanDisk ImageMate All-In-One USB3 multi-card reader yesterday, for $45. It seems to recognise and read the first partition of MPC3000 (3.11) and (native) MPC2000XL formatted CF cards OK, with Mac OS X 10.7.2, in initial testing.

Am planning to do some multiple PC-Mac-MPC3000 (and back) transfers of large sound files, to see if the files hold up OK after multiple PC-Mac-MPC-Mac-PC transfers, with a SCSI-SATA-CF setup in an MPC3000 and the SanDisk USB card reader on a Mac. That should give the SanDisk USB card reader some more extensive testing with MPC3000 formatted cards and Mac OS X.

^ very interested in those test results as i am a (MPC60/3000) mac user but not willing to track down a 2004 OS system or even worst windows 98 to do my transfers

If you don't want an old computer install VMWare or VirtualBox on your system and run an older OS on a virtual environment.

I had to use the free app Wineskin on my Mac to get my old PC version of MPCEditor to work.
