Tracking out issues...

Hey guys this is a multifold question so bear with me!

OK I want to track out my beats; the midi AND the samples with minimal editing as I am paying for the time when I do this.

What internal settings do I need to change in the mpc and also I do not have the 8 outs before you ask AND a busted jog wheel to boot!

Any advice greatfully appreciated

Tracking means physically recording the audio. Do you mean reconstructing the song in a DAW?

If you don't have an interface you can just save the midi sequence and open it inside your daw. Then tie the midi notes to the samples. There are a number of ways getting the samples out of the machine, you could record each pad individually into your computer, or open them on you computer and convert from akai .snd to .wav.

Then all you need is the correct cabling to run the audio into your computer, and a program to accept the incoming audio like garage band or audacity. You want a stereo/dual mono 1/4th inch to 1/8th jack audio cable. Basically you want a cable that has two connectors to fit in your mpc main outputs and the other side to be the smaller version (like on earbuds/headphones). You won't need to transfer any midi data, and for future reference midi is information on what notes you played and when you played them during the song, it contains no audio. Good luck

Why are you paying for time? Which DAW is being used?

is a generic daw able to "keep up" with 2kxl's 96ppq midi scripting? If it's "bad" daw, a really cheap one or such you could have a problem with its sequencer being too stiffy and not enough accurate.

I think most if not all modern DAWS are 192ppq or above. But the mpc's midi jitter might be different and sloppier allowing for a slightly different groove.

yep that doesnt have to be about ppq's but 99% of the time I heard someone had tracked midi from mpc to daw I heard it's just not the same, in the daw it looses the original rhytm or such

I've heard this as well, but never seen anything definitive. I would love to see some sort of visual comparison to see what's actually going on. Too lazy todo this myself
