Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.
By andreat668 Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:14 pm
Ok i bought the Renaissance about one week ago, despite all the crazy talk about the unsuitability of working within i have to say this a nice machine.

I have been working with it for at least 5-6 hours everyday, i didnt have a crash or issue with the software.

The 1.2 software is very usable feature wise and you can make even more complex music than simple hip hop beats, so people that are complain about stability and lack of features maybe are beginner or got very low spec computers to work with.

Like i said in another thread what really this machine needs is multicore, 64 bit and multi-timbral before all the other hyped request.

Fortunately seems full midi implementation is coming along 1.3 update...anyway i tried to open one mpc instance inside logic, and i you add plug-ins inside the renaissance soft the cpu load is VERY HEAVY! (I Got a MPB Pro I7 2.66 ghz...)

So this situation undo all the purpose of sequencing au and vsts inside your daw of choice, considering also, Ren cannot send midi in plug in mode so you have to run them inside the mpc software.

Now to me the real issue besides the ones listed above is THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

In one week i send two e-mails to the customer support and i didnt receive any response back...i cant call them because there isnt a number for my country!

I mean, i lived 3 years in England so my english shouldnt be so bad, but was some time ago and even when i was in living London i had some issues with phone conversation.

I hope Dan or some Rep are going to notice this post and sort out these issues,

Thanks!

This is pretty sad, on the bright side sounds like when 1.3 hits it's going to be rock solid. Lets see if they can deliver on this account, although their promises sound less believable each time they do this

the worry now will be that 1.3 might not be nearly as stable as was implied in the euphoria surrounding NAMM
hopefully, by next week we will have it to play with and everyone will be really excited about all the new features and critical bugfixes, in which case the extra week waiting will be prove worthwhile and this inconvenience will be forgotten

Posting from my Phone, so I hope this isn't formatted weird. We're still working on making sure the release is solid, so we will be delayed releasing 1.3 for a few days. Realigning ourselves for Wednesday or Thursday right now. Thanks for your continued patience. The wait will be worth it!

Thanks for the heads up Dan. Kinda sucks to find out on the day of but it's cool. That's the way the beat swings sometimes.

Ofcourse you had to know it wouldn't be ready today. Why not tell us yesterday or days before and spare us the offense? This is totally an inconsiderate move on the company's part and I wholeheartedly disagree with this approach. Enough said!

Now you'll have a couple of days towards the end of the week, take off NEXT Friday AND have the weekend to get intimate with a (hopefully) solid 1.3 release. Win...Win. :smoker:

I wouldn't suggest taking off any time until you actually have the update.

pressure is on them at this point, they can only lead you guys on for so long IMO ya'll been pretty good and patient with them.

but they gotta put their money where their mouth is at some point, why in the world do they advertise not fully working beta software and set realease deadlines not meet them.

some people still feel bitter how they treated 5k community, this is definitely not good looks if they dont deliver with 1.3.

Total BS dropping the ball like this on the promised release date. Guess that's what we get believing a salesman representing a company during a tradeshow. My next post will be on ebay.

Peace.

I know right. I almost stayed home today, but I was like I'll just play when I get off. I got lucky bc I was thinking about it all last night. Glad I changed my mind this morn. I not upset about the update being pushed back, I'd rather hv all the kinks out like everyone else, I just think telling us on the day of is highly unprofessional. And it is still only my opinion, so no big deal.

Well I took off work and I have no regrets.... I get to chill.
I'm glad I don't work for Akai's software team.. PRESSURE & ANXIETY.

It'll be funny if it still gets released today.. suckers. If not oh well, at least we are a 72 hours away, count your blessing if you own one.

Why people have to ruin this thread? Yeah its not good news, but at least Dan or whoever came and interacted with us. Since we got 13 year olds in here now we'll probably never see Akai interact with us every again, if people acted mature maybe Akai would come here more otften. Anyways, 1.3 looks beast so I dont mind waiting a few more days. Anybody complaining over such a petty thing is ridiculous when you already see how 1.3 is going to be beast. Oh wow, delayed a few days. Big deal. Are you guys really professional producers with deadlines and shit. Most of you, I doubt it. I am happy just to know an update is on the way. After seeing what was presented at NAMM I am sure Akai is working hard to please us, and I'm sure it was delayed for a good reason. Would you want to download 1.3 and find out there was a huge bug? I rather they take a few days to get it right if they need to. At least it's not months we have to wait like previously.
