The scroll wheel is pissing me off .

I can't find any info on this searching around--is there a quick way to program samples onto the MPC pads by skipping alphabetically using numeric or some other similar way?

It's getting on my nerves to scroll through a ton of sounds I already programmed to reach the next one I want to assign to a pad.

So, you highlight the name of the sample in program, hold "Undo" button and press next pad you want to program. This way sample is copied to another pad, and you have to scroll just one tick, to get to next sample in order.
Beside that, you can use Q-link1 to act as jog wheel in most of modes (whole program menu). You don't have to set anything, it's already at your fingertips.
