3. Obviously, you know this is not what I'm saying. I'm saying that a layout, be it graphical or physical is not what makes a mixer a mixer. The functionality and actually being able to mix, regardless of how it's laid out, is what makes it a mixer! Not all mixers are laid out in a channel strip form factor. Like this Neve Summing Mixer for example:

4. I didn't know we were talking specifics though! There's hardly any feature in the world that's specific to only one piece of software or hardware. Going on specifics, there's hardly any feature request for the Ren that can't be done in some other program already!

Whether I use Maschine now or not isn't relevant at all. When I got Maschine, I wasn't using my 2500 because I had no reason too. But there were still several features of the 2500 that I still wanted in Maschine, as well as features from other software that I wasn't currently using that were better than what was in Maschine!

3. Seriously...I am actually I have no idea where you are taking this conversation. You displayed a $3000 plus mixer which actually proves my point. It is a multi-channel mixer without faders but plenty of knobs to easily adjust the volume and pan of audio sources routed to it. Maschine doesn't have this.

4. While NI needs to focus their attention on what their consumers want.....which is more MPC features. Don't take my word though....simply read the feature suggestion threads.

It is very relevant whether you use the Ren or Maschine now. If Maschine is so great, why don't you place the Ren back in its box and primarily use Maschine. :P Of course, I know you won't do that for many reasons. I certainly wouldn't.

3. YES IT DOES! This is my point! This Neve mixer is bascially the same setup Maschine has. The settings for each pad/channel just aren't consolidated to a single location. But the same functions are there. You just simply have to tap or click another pad to view it's channel settings and routing. Price has nothing to do with it!

4. Many of these "MPC Features" Maschine users want aren't specific to MPC's either!

This isn't a Maschine is better than MPC thing with me. And we are talking about a single aspect here, a mixer. Saying the Maschine mixer is better than the Ren mixer does not constitute a "If Maschine is so better..." comment! The same reason I'm not putting the Ren back in the box because Maschine has certain features implemented better than Ren is the same reason I didn't put Maschine back in the box because my 2500 had certain features better or non existant in the MPC.

Would you rather me just say **** it and settle for Maschine, or use my knowledge to suggest things to make the Renaissance better?

Only by stretching the imagination can someone claim Maschine has a mixer. You can read Maschine's manual cover to cover. NI doesn't even claim Maschine has a mixer. The only mention of a mixer in Maschine's manual is discussing a DAW's mixer or an MPC's mixer.

The reason why you are not putting the Ren back in the box is obvious. It's the same reason why my Ren isn't in the box...and the same reason why my Maschine is sitting on the floor right now. And MPC Studio is sitting in the spot previously held by Maschine.

What do you guys do if you want to play a program (that's using stereo samples) in mono and don't want to go and render everything mono? Is there a trick you can do in the mixer?

You can use a stereo field plugin that will allow you to move the left/right channel information to the center. You can use a free plugin called ReaJS (by cockos) and this plugin comes with 200-300 plugins embedded, and there's one in-particular called Stereo Field that will work perfectly for what you're trying to accomplish.

LOL....that's what I'm getting from this debate/conversation.

It was funny enough when Hellfire had to explain what a mixer was as if to 5th grader and then as if to a kindergartener. However, when he had to resort to "drawing bold colors on pictures"…

NI Should hire you as product specialist, I have never understood how Machine works. This picture has just sparked something and I think I may look into machine after all lol

You can highlight as many channel strips in a real mixer (see Pro Tools and the Ren above) as you like but Maschine still doesn't have mixer. In case you missed it the first time, even NI doesn't call what Maschine has a mixer....because it isn't.

I actually quite enjoy mixing in the maschine.
It's really easy to balance the pads and then grps as the control resolution for volume is set beautifully by n.i

I love the attention to detail N.I put into the control resolution. No other controller I have used has that level of attention to detail. It's one thing to assign a parameter to a knob it's another to set the resolution of that function so that it works beautifully.

Eq pan etc is easy.
Inserts are okay in implementation.
Sends on the maschine r confusing.

The idea that this functionality doesn't constitute a mixer ? In many ways It's to NI credit that u don't require a dedicated 'mixer screen' to use the mixer engine.

Hellfire u r bang on.

Mixer by definition is the "MIX" of multiple channels into a "master" output, stereo for most applications.

Maschine does have a mixer.
