I said grainular as well for a reason.... Ever heard of a grain cloud? Try making one on another sampler in only a few moments, and non destructively. I'm not saying its not possible on other machines (asr/mv8000) but its beyond just looping a single cycle....

it's way easier + more powerful on an asr / ensoniq / emu - almost any non-akai sampler
it works on an mpc but its a hack

doing it on an ensoniq with aftertouch is a crazy experience

as for the op - if you sequence your beat and use track mutes its almost the same thing.
when i was new to the sampler world i thought it was a missing feature too - but then i soon realised it is not that big a deal if you know what you are doing.

No doubt, I think the asr implements it best. But I was just trying to point out that I meant beyond single cycle looping. But when I'm live jamming, I do really enjoy it on he mpc despite the hackness of it all, using the nv slider, and doing it to multiple sounds at once. I actually think it has really great implementation in terms of polyphonic "grainulizing". Better than actual grain synths for live jamming/creating.

ps. its 'granular'

Fml I write grainular because when I was learning about synthesis years ago I remembered granular synthesis by thinking about it like "grains of sand" so it got stuck as grainular. Lol. I'll have to write a post it again
