Still that isn't supposed to happen. With the normal settings or with highest sensitivity setting. At least that doesn't happen with my mpc.

I still think it's a malfunction.

In case I truly misunderstood the OP, it still doesn't mean you have to assume I 'didn't bother to read the post at all'.

Hi again.

As most of you said my MPC doesn't ghost-tricker other pads unless I have it set to very sensitive levels. Levels that ghost-tricker (a better word maybe than ghost notes to avoid confusion?) other pads is something like this:

Velo. Sens: 25
Press. Sens: 25
Pad On Level: Around 9-10 and below it starts ghost-trickering other pads...

(I guess this is pretty normal?)

The different strenght/velocity curves doesn't seem to have a huge effect on what I'm trying to accomplish.

I would like it to respond even better (to even softer touches) than what is possible at these levels and without ghost-trickering other pads of course.

Just a quick aside, not any real solution. But Korg pad Kontrols are like $99 used and are the most sensitive pad I've ever used. They get closer that "touch screen" analogy you used. First thing I do to test any pads on anything are rock quick triplets. The Korg was the best I ever touched leaving pad size/height etc, out of the equation and only looking at the sensitivity/velocity curve.

Maybe you see one dirt cheap some day, but really good pads.

I'll turn on my 2500 in a minute here and see if my numbers/behaviors match yours.

Have you had a chance to play with your 2500 yet?

I had fell asleep and forgot, sorry.

I will be able to within the hour.

I'm about to load up some sounds. I must say I have no real drum experience and am not the greatest finger drummer. So the most I can probably do is describe how much pressure I'm applying to get particular MIDI values registering.

I never found the JJOS2XL settings I use lacking for my purposes, but again those are limited needs maybe as I can't finger drum to that level.

But I'll return with some descriptions.

Cool. Maybe just try to set levels to 25. And then turn down the Pad On.... and see at what levels it starts ghost-trickering the neighbours with light/semi-light drumming?

I tried from lowest Pad On setting and went up the increments, I don't get adjacent pads triggering no matter what I do. Truth be told I've only ever had it happen once or twice over multiple MPC's and I think I had forgot to hold Erase when I rebooted, the n just re-flashed the OS and it was gone.

My 2500 is in very crisp condition and I know the sensor sheet has not had much wear on it. They are prone to shorter lives on heavily used MPC's or at least ones that had the pads hit more often as you can imagine.

But yeah couldn't repeat the wrong or "extra" pad triggers and generally has never happened to me regardless of settings. But it is reported often on here, so perhaps it's a sensor sheet issue.

Thanks.

I don't know how much it has been beaten of course since I bought used. But it is not very old. And in pretty much mint condition.

I don't there's anything wrong with it though, since I've also read about ghost-trickering when lurking around here...

What do you mean by sheet?

You're probably already putting it together like you said. The sensors just can die out after a while and the sheet under the pads needs replacing. It tends to be only certain ones and can lead to the wrong pads triggering more often. So it could easily be a crispy looking MPC, but if the previous owner was banging the pads everyday, all day it might be more wear on the sensor sheet. I can tell on most of my machines the previous owners probably gave up early and the machines hardly got touched.

I'd maybe open up the MPC and blow the dust out with an air can, make sure the rubber pad sheet's tiny guide pegs on the edges are seated right. Sometimes the y get a tiny bit off, just enough that you might have triggering close to the corners of the pads be more likely to mis-trigger and adjacent pad.

Judging from the 2 sets I have, granted neither in a 2500 I think that my help. You just have to adjust how you hit the pads on the fat ones as it's double the rubber. The adjustment is usually to hit lighter which kind of fits your opening post mentioning touch screen type light tap/response.
