Then why don't you ask about it in that thread, if thats what you followed?

^My bad, Clint. I'm new here obviously, and I didn't know if that old thread was still active, or if it would get bumped up if I replied.

I figured my question would be relevant to this thread though, since this is an ASR thread on an MPC forum.

I'll ask my question in the old thread. Thanks.

Has anyone replaced the tact switches on their ASR and know the part #?
I took my keyboard totally apart for a thorough cleaning and to replace the 2 cursor tact switches (SW20-UP & SW21-DOWN) that are bad.

I looked through the ASR service manual but there isn't a schematic diagram at all to identify what type of switch I need.
Thanks in advance!!!

!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!

Hi if anyone could help me out here would be amazing

Basically say i resample something with an effect on it and i then won't to resample it again with a new effect it doesnt work

But this actually happens regardless whether its got an effect on it
If i just resample something dry, it then won't let any effects work on it

This has been driving me mad

Any help much appreicated

mattyd wrote:I'm trying to buy an analog board for my ASR10 (kbrd) from Syntaur, but I'm awaiting a reply to my emails. I'll give them another few days, but I'm not sending any money blind without confirming they have the stock etc.

I'm an ASR10 keyboard owner from way back when they were first released, but after a few years of storage she's developed a post-sample distortion on EVERY instrument, audio bus, dry effetcs etc - but ONLY on the left channel.

It's been driving me nuts not being able to hear the supurb stereo effects as I have to pan everything to the right channel in order to hear a clean sound :(

But I've got 20 years worth of samples, sequences and banks that I just don't want to loose. If I can get an analog board from Syntaur (possibly a jack board too case it's the faulty component), and if it fixes the post distortion problem then the next step will be a compact flash SCSI drive to backup my ageing fleet of SyQuest EZ 135MB cartridges...

If all that comes to plan, then I can possibly get to work on using some of the many ASR software solutions (a la chicken) to get some sweet additions to my library.

Will let you know how things pan out.

Peace...

:smoker:

UPDATE:

After 5 years of distorted sound on the left, I now have my ASR keyboard working 100% again with crystal clear stereo!

I ordered an analog board from a rack ASR that worked beautifully (it has an extra headphone out terminal on the board that you don't use, but no difference otherwise).

Thanks to Sam at Syntaur for the trade on my OEX6 and for all the email updates.

One happy ASR veteran is now back on track 8)

looks like the tact switch is called "Pushbutton microswitch (Part #4004)" there.

DOPE!!!! Cheers crossings!
I'm going to replace all 38 switches just to be on the safe side.

i remember having this problem before.. i found a way around it, but i forget what it was. i don't know if this works but- try going to the edit- wave- and then finding out where it outputs the sample. change the bus to another one, and then put the new effect on the new bus. (if that makes sense). i'm pretty sure thats the way to do it.

thanks mate yeah i've already worked it out.
when you resample the wave gets changed to bus 3 automatically, you just have to change it back to bus 1

Hey ppl, is there any way to combine instruments together, for example, i recorded a bunch of kick drums split them up into different keys and now i'd like to record some snares and have it in the same instrument bank together with my kicks, possible?

Kicks in inst1 and snares in inst2, no, no combin function where all can be placed in onst1. You'll just have to load the snares in inst1 or sample them into inst1.

thanks for the reply lampdog!

another question, has anyone successfully used the ASR-10 with the Chicken Systems Translator proggie ? i'm still trying to find an easier way to batch convert all my drum samples into one inst bank. cheers
