can you imagine the crazy if jjos went open hardware??
i'm picturing a midi only device with only a screen and no native pad/input device. let the user daw it up the way they want. if only there were more jeniuses out there

man an open source jjos would be ridiculous...
don't like the behavior of one screen/function? boom, change it.
want the buttons to say FK YEAH instead of DO IT? boom, done.
...
actually, I'd be really content with just the custom on-screen button names...

But seriously, imagine a whole new class of MPC users, people who would be writing their own functions and things, sharing them, mixing and matching, making a machine that is actually the most perfect possible workflow for every user...

AKAI hasn't implemented the imagination feature, but i'm sure they'd be happy to forward the request to their development team!!!

...Arduino, JJ, MPC-ish, monome, livid block, random anything...OMG my head is going to explode from imagining the utter sickness.

right? really, i think someone ought to JJ (new verb) the Novation Launchpad. make a special launchpad vst. it's a readily available hardware, cheap entry cost, extremely durable, and criminally underutilized

I'm down. I have one, but am no scripting sage myself. With the used ones and price drops I'm sure I'll get another Launchpad. One for normal Live stuff and one to always use with M4L patches and all the monome clones and sequencer devices.
Love JJ as a verb. Definitely the newspeak.

"To JJ" should definitely be a word.
there just needs to be made more examples of it.
We need more JJ's.
WAIT. YOU CAN OPEN UP THE OS FILE IN A TEXT EDITOR, AND EDIT THE TEXT OF WINDOWS/BUTTONS.
I'm hesitant though, I don't want to screw anything up and have the chance of losing my license to the os...

I'm not trying.
But I don't get as deep as you and Nym. The two of you and JJ could possibly take over the world with financial backing, and I'm more than a little serious.
Maybe I'll just do a splash screen, "To JJ is to..." Maybe just that, main thing "To JJ" has an air of class and a hint of pomp to it, and I like it.

If JJOS allowed us to tinker I'd take all the multitimbrality out, the external controlling and the features I don't use and try and make it as rock solid timing-wise as I could.
First and foremost for me, I require my mpc to have rock-solid timing and with as many midi outs as it can handle.
I wrote to JJ recently, with accompanying tests, about the bad jitter that JJOSXL has compared to the original AkaiOS and even the free JJOS version. This is the first thing I'd fix. Timing is very important to me because the MPC2500 controls everything in my studio.
