oh the phasing deal when layering drums. yea. i get that. am i weird because i rock it anyway. I take it as is. i kind of like it. (i know i'll be torn apart for that  )

but yeah I've always just went with it and continued on with making my sh!t lol

I respect that. Don't think you are weird, but I would be very curious why if yours didn't drift when layering.

I use my 5000 on a daily basis. I know what to do and when not to to keep it running smooth, but with EDM I can't have that drifting. I love happy accidents and glitches, but with the drifting I just can't live with.

Word. I will say tho, I've worked around the layering bugs by finding other ways to make the drums bang and resampling. But I can see how this issue is a no go for others. I think a tutor said it best in another post... We'll have to accept the 5000 for what it is at this point or move on to other options. I've kind of accepted the quirks. Similar to stuff that used to happen with analog synths that cats learned to work with or around... But now we love those old analog synth quirks. I will say too that I am fallin for the mpc studio more and more lately where the Maschine wasn't enough to break me from the 5000.

I tried the ren today and it really didn't impress me more than than the 5k.. See i was looking for the important things like the chopping features.. This to me is by far one of the most important features that they should of nailed advanced upon... chopping on jjos is super quick and simple.. the ren didn't really boast an advantage over the 5000. especially on the mpc lcd screen. That was the first feature i tried and then made up my mind... I was gonna cop the studio, but after trying that, it's not gonna be worth it for me. The other thing that i thought i would need was the larger ram/sample memory capacity.. but after thinking about it, i only ever ran out of memory when i tried to pack one machine with a whole set... i have 2 machines(1k and 5k)... And when im making one song, ive never reallymaxed out the memory at all!!! Most of the chopping i do is in 8ths or smaller. The money i was gonna spend on the ren/studio is going towards a digi mixer.. looking at the 01v96i and studiolive .. so i can have the best of both worlds(itb mixing with motor fader control and mixer style no computer straight to 2track) psr What are the reasons for copping a studio?

Speaking of effects there are 4 effects buses with two slots each. you can link two buses together to have a 4 insert effects bus. these can be assigned to pads or input thru etc.

Hey PSR, this post was from a few years ago - do you still use your 5000?

I need some 5000 advice before I buy too, from you or anyone else that can help. My choice is between a 1000 and a 5000:

1. With the FX sends on the mixer - it looks like there is only one send option - is that right - so although there are 4 FX buses, each track can only send to one of them? Would be cool if you could at least send a track to 2 buses.

2. How do the 5000's filters compare to other MPCs? Do the 5000 filters have that distortion problem like the 1000's filters? Do the filters sound anything like the 3000's filters?

4. Do the external outs have to be used in stereo pairs, or can you set them to individual mono without having to pan, like on JJOS?

Thanks
