Mpc 1000 continues to crash

Hi everybody I was wondering if someone could help me out with my mpc1000 issue. Everytime i turn on my mpc it works fine for a few minutes then itll start to crash and restart. It'll happen over 10 time in an hour. Nothing triggers it, it'll just restart out of nowhere.

A few easy things to try:


Reload OS (I forget how to do it off the top of my head. look it up)
Reseat RAM (Open up the little hatch in the back, pop out the RAM card, pushing out the little side clips. Make sure the contacts look clean, then pop it back in.
^^^ would be my first guess, RAM that isn't seated properly in the connector.

slightly more involved, cuz they involve resetting/wiping things:
Reset to factory settings (again, look it up, if you want to try it. I forget off the top of my head how it's done)
Reformat CF card (from SAVE window, the f4 button option, I think. warning: clears your cf card)

Sounds like a rough situation! In addition to the suggestions above, make sure you don't have any power issues. When the MPC restarts, does the backlight on the display go off or blink? If so, there may be something wrong with the power supply. With caution, check to see if there is a short anywhere either in the cord, connector, or inside. (although I don't recommend messing around with the internal board unless you are experienced with that sort of thing, which I am not)
