It is what it is and its not gonna go away.If you dont like it and it does not fit into your perfect synced set up then so be it.Apart from some messy digital timing crap its a full on box.Loads of fun and for me it was fast and tight.I just see it as a independant groove machine workstation.Have not got time to debate the negatives,just the positives as i see them.

Ive always liked the random feature in Live's impulse sampler. I wish mpcs had something like that.

The random feature you mention doesn't shift the timing. As I recall it creates a pseudo doubling effect and or auto panning and maybe velocities. I cant be 100% certain. Anyway, I hated it because it actually sounded sloppy.

I think the impulse random feature can be created with the 4000. Just off the top of my head - setting up two LFOs to trigger velocity and panning would probably be in the right ball park.

Anyway, I get it, you like slop and thats fine. Many of us dont.

What you call midi jitter on the mpc 5000 is considered better than a tight drummer who can play meter in real life. If a hardware sequencer has a max 5 ms of "random shift" (not that random if you look at it), it can't be called "sloppy", because the best option of a real drummer is to be at around 15ms of maximum shift. Is it really that sloppy as some of you claim?

Your wrong, there are random features for filter, envelope, l&r,etc.

Yes you can do it on the 4000. It takes programming, that was his point. Its just tedious.

Exactly, its mostly bullshit to people who just make music. I was working on the 5000 yesterday. None of the shit they talk really matters in the real world.

Great example of how workflow differ's in real life. Roecker, I hear you about the midi clock sync. It is a big reason for the 4000 for me. The thing is if the 5000's midi clock was better, I would be more than happy with it. I actually would rather stay on the 5. I prefer its sound.

Switch from 5000 to 4000 for the same reason, now I run a 4000 and a 3000 LE side by side using Sync Gen LE clock. Rock solid

Opinions are welcome but calling someone an idiot on a 4k forum, talking about 4ks, in the midst of 4k users isn't the best way either.

Each mpc is the king within it's forum among the users. On a 4k forum of course 4k is king.
