it works, but the cr@p and grime in the buttons is making it sticky. The pads are duigusting, it looks like a dope machine as well but man it sucks that this has happend.

I could clean it up but its going to take a while sorting it out really.

the thing that pisses me off is I have to pay out of my pocket to send it back.

Seller offered a partial refund, its grimey but got it for $400 with the vga.

Guess its time to clean it up now.

thats cool he gave you a partial refund, time to open that shit up and soak the casing and pads in some water and scrub it with alcohol pads for awhile.

ive heard when you open it up it gets really confusing as where to put stuff, so take some pictures and use an icetray or something similar to store the extra screws and label each tray part with masking tape.

Yep its all cleaned up, going to do some pics but its as close as I can get to it being usable again.

download the latest ones from roland... the new OS makes the machine way different from when the huge ass manual was printed.

Can I ask can I just download the 3.5 manual and simply use that alongside the support documents. Last thing I want to do is and print the original 400 page manual.

In the meantime, as I'm going off to work now can someone explain to me if possible how do I load up my wav files and assign them to pads and save them as a patch file.

I can sample and love the fact you can punch in with the pads when you want to sample as the track plays.

yeah dont print those unless you really have to. using the pdf is really good.. it allows you to use the search function too.

the manual explains exactly what we would type here for how to assign samples.... it's faster for you to read their explanation.

I downloaded the original manual and was stunned how big the manual was.

Got the samplekings vid too, but like his mpc wasn't that great.

That huge bible of a manual is pretty discouraging tho'.
They are very deep machines almost too much stuff,
I loved that I could burn whatever I just made to cd and throw
It in my car to get a good feel for changes I needed.
the effects are pretty decent too.

Actually the MV comes with two 400 page manuals, making it a 700+ page book. One is the user manual and the other is the Screen manual which is much better to get into the MV than the user manual. It tells you what the features actually do.

Have fun with that beast. Its definitely a deep machine and you can do basic production or you can do advanced production, it does it.

My first week with it, I was making stiff and generic beats. But you have to keep playing with it and just say **** it and eventually you'll find that path of making beats comfortably and efficient and fast too.

I say its a king-sized SP because I made the machine work for me that way, but someone coming off the SP to an MV will get their head wrapped in like crushed grapes. Like any gear, appreciate it, take your time and read the manuals, especially the Screen Manual, that book is the express lane.

also got 128mb on the mv however, what benefits besides from longer sampling time does it bring?

OK really confused if anyone can help quickly, same problem either way.

I can import my samples and assign to patch however, when I record a pattern with the drumkit patch nothing is recorded?. Mute and Solo aren't on but R is.

Same with chopping a sample, created a patch but when I come to record on the midi channel with the patch nothing is recorded as well?.

I can record audio phrases though.

chopping is different, you can't adjust end times only start. I guess like the 606 I could copy the sample with the clipboard pad to pad but surely that be a memory hog.

memory is for sample time..

and copying samples I dont believe has an effect on memory using the clip board.. it uses the same file stored in ram. Then the partial is edited to different params.
