Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey there,

i just want to hook my EMU Ultra Sampler to my MPC2000XL.

with search function i found these threads

i read the manual of MPC and the EMU. in the manual from the MPC its only described how to connect HD Drives, Zips, CD Roms etc.

The EMU have a "avoid host on ID" function to have one more SCSI Host in a chain.

I have SCSI4Sampler Solution inside the EMU, EOS 4.7, CF Card formatted to FAT . I want to load Wave Files, E4 Presets, SND Files and PGMs on the CF Card.

Via SCSI i want to load the MPC Files from the CF Card inside the Emulator.

I have a Centronics 50PIN to HP HD50PIN to connect both Units.

Does anyone connected a EMU Sampler directly to a MPC???

and no, i dont want to modify my mpc. its an option, but i think about a 3000 or a 60. So with this method i can save time and headaches to find a good and cheap ACARD Bridge.

Peace

Set it to SCSI ID 6 that the MPC2000XL SCSI interface uses, make sure the internal Emu SCSI reader or bridge is set to a different SCSI ID, and give it a try.

You have an MPC2000XL, it has both internal SCSI and internal IDE/ATAPI connectors, you don't need an Acard bridge, you can swap out your floppy drive for a compatible IDE card reader for non-hotswap, or compatible ATAPI card reader for hotswap.

i use now a MPC2KXL, the next good offer for a 60 or 3000 will be mine!!

So i need a Acard Bridge if i want to use the 60/3000 with a CF Card Reader.

Unfortunately the conclusion for this idea is : its better to dig a ACARD Bridge for the 60 / 3000 instead of connecting teh EMU directly to the MPC. The risk to fry one ofthe SCSI Bus Interfaces of one the machines is to high.

That is one option.

The Acard is a SCSI-IDE/ATAPI bridge, you use iit with an IDE card reader for non-hotswap, or an ATAPI card reader for hotswap, but there isn't many compatible ATAPI readers available.

Other options might be a native SCSI CF reader, or a SCSI-SATA bridge and a SATA CF reader.

yeah,

which PCB are working or not i figured out here in the forum. PCB 15, 19, 25, 47 etc.

I read a lot about SCSI, CF Readers, my first MPC2000XL i changed also to CF. My new one doesnt have a CF reader.

SO i thought it would be nice to have a SCSI connection to share the CF Card between EMU and MPC. But it seems that the effort for that is to high
