I just order a CF reader to use with my MPC with 3.5. I want to be able to transfer samples back and froth between the MP and my computer. I'm on OSX Lion.
Should I be formatting the cards as MS-DOS (FAT)? Or do I need to format the cards on the MPC?

Format in the MPC using hybrid partitions, another option is to use the format function in the full version of MPC Editor and WinXP.

Format on the MPC.

The older MPC3000 format works with Mac OS X, but you only have access to the first partition on the disk.

I have not tried Vailixi hybrid partitions yet, but they should also work, not sure how many partitions you can access on them.

I always prefer to use a separate disk/card for computer transfers, not the same disks/cards that I store my MPC work on.

This can be important with Mac OS X, as it can fill the disk/card up with hidden files, and cause problems, so using a separate transfer disk/card, that you can format again if it does get filled up with hidden files, and the disks/cards with your MPC work on them never touch the computer, seems to me to be a good way to go.

Yeah I had thought about this. Really I don't plan to store anything long term on the cards. Just use them as a way to transfer things back and forth.
